First issue I am having an issue with my power window switches not working. I took off the door panels and tested both motors with a battery and both windows roll up and down all the way. Also, it's only happened a couple times, but I have heard a sound like the motor was turning, but the windows never moved. Occasionally I also have an issue were the power door locks don't work either, but those are intermittent. When that happens, I just lock with the key or manually. Any ideas of what could be the culprit. With summer around the corner, I'd like to try and get this resolved.
Second issue is I had a CEL come up for 25 Air-Fuel Ratio Lean. I was going to order the two upstream O2 sensors, but figured at the same time to look at my ECU as I've been having some issues that I thought might be related to bad capacitors. My speedometer doesn't show the correct speed and my fuel economy is awful. I changed the fuel filter and put in the Chevron fuel cleaner hoping that might fix it, but still looks like I'm getting about 10-12 mpg (not driving it hard). I took out the ECU and found a few capacitors that look like they're leaking. I ordered the recommended capacitors from Digi-key from the ECU forum post and will hopefully be able to get those repaired within the next couple weeks. Should I hold off on the O2 sensors as the CEL hasn't come back on or would it just be better to get them changed as the CEL came on before I disconnected the ECU? I uploaded some pics of the capacitors. I'm no expert on board repair, so I won't be doing this myself, but it will get done as soon as the caps come in.
May be worth popping out the rubber boot that holds the wiring harness from the footwell to the door, inspect the wires. Maybe the issue for your lock switches?
One of my SCs had damaged wiring there, I assume from the door opening and closing a million times.
Get your ECU fixed first in my opinion then re-evaluate. The ECU leaks can cause so many different malfunctions its hard to say.
ECU caused issues are notorious and rebuilding / repair is always a good idea. Not sure I would take on just replacing the capacitors. I do not have the skills to attempt that; SIA will test/repair/certify an ECU relatively inexpensive…Under $200.
