Annoying electrical issues - related?
First my rear defroster stopped working. I inspected it carefully, and found nothing wrong with it. There are no breaks in the lines, and wires leading up to it look fine. One last thing to inspect would be the plug itself, if it came off somehow, which I doubt.
Then, ever since my son used the cigarette lighter to pump up the tires with a portable electric pump it stopped working - the lighter. No power to it any more. Replacing the fuse did nothing and if memory serves me, the fuse that I replaced was fine (blue one, 15A) but I replaced it anyway. Someone here mentioned they had a problem with bent contacts within the fuse housing itself, so that's one thing to check, but otherwise, I've replaced that fuse, twice, just to be sure, and no luck.
Also, years ago, when I changed the LCD display, the backlight on HVAC buttons stopped working. I opened up the whole thing all over again, looking for the cable I may have forgotten to plug in and found that everything was in good order. So I closed it back, and it still doesn't work. At night, if I want to change the blower speed or temperature, I have to turn my interior light on for a moment, so I can see what I'm doing.
Finally, I noticed that the power control of the outside mirrors doesn't work - both left and right. I rarely use that, so I have no idea when that happened.
Could the above be related to some bigger fuse or relay or circuit breaker and if so, which one?
If it helps, the power windows, stereo, power locks, interior lights, and pretty much everything else works fine.
Any help appreciated.
