FeralFriend’s SC300 Build Thread
I’m a fellow in his late twenties professionally building cars with Nice’d Up Motorsports in Greensboro, NC.
I love my partner, my step daughter, and my job. It’s a good thing because these don’t allow time for much else.
I’m a D&D DM, a little sick in the head, and looking forward to being a member of the community.
Wednesday the 13th I picked up a 1992 SC300 with 216k on the dash non running for $1800.
She’s a Royal Indigo Pearl on tan with an auto and I believe it’s a cali emissions car.
I spend the day working on it, diagnosing a few things. It has been sitting for 6 years so I put 5 gallons of 93 in, replaced the vacuum lines that had blown out while the intake was off, and gave it double iridium plugs because that’s all any of the stores around had 😭
Jump box on, key on, no ignition. Thanks to a post on this forum I saw that the dash lights remained on while the radio and climate control went out on key ignition. This means the neutral safety switch wasn’t sending signal to the ECU. Quick depin and snip of wire 2 and 3, solder, and a little heart shrink to permanently loop the switch in preparation for the eventual manual swap.
Ignition works with key; time to get some fresh fuel up in the lines. After that it starts first go and catches idle just fine. Come to find out it needs an alternator and my power steering pump leaks like a siv. If anybody has these in perfect working condition hit me up please.
It also needs a drivers side wiper arm and I’d like to buy a black interior.
