Default do reverse lights trigger dash warning?

Specifically for '97-00 tail lights, but the same answer may apply to all years: Would LED reverse (backup) lights trigger the dash warning, or does that only apply to brake lights and turn signals? My searches haven't turned up anything covering the reverse lights specifically.

My driveway is a challenge to back down at night, especially when it's rainy and pavement is barely discernible from grass. (The driveway curves and drops away to one side, eliminating consistent sight lines.) It's no secret that I've long disliked the SC side mirrors in general, but in that situation there's almost zero visibility with them. I figured adding some brighter reverse lights could help with that, without having to resort to an add-on light that wouldn't incorporate well.

The '97-00 tails take wedge base bulbs, which I believe are 7440's for the reverse lights -- listed as such in various lists -- not the twist base 1156's mentioned in all the SC forum posts that don't break down the years. Thus the reason for asking about '97-00 specifically. I have some bright 1156 LEDs in the other car and was hoping to test whether they trigger the dash light, but obviously couldn't use them. So, before ordering some 7440's to try, hopefully someone has already tested it?

Maybe add some garden lights to the edge of your driveway where it drops off may assist in visibility.

I've got some lights and reflectors at the bottom of the driveway, which helps some, but they'd be problematic alongside it. The side that drops away is the graveled entry point for truck and trailer, and the other side is lawn. I'd rather not pull up lights every time I mow (or use the trailer), and the yard is so heavily sloped there, not much else would stay put unless burying big rocks that in turn could be quite damaging. Most people end up a foot or two in the grass when trying to navigate the tricky curve.

If I pressure wash regularly to keep moss to a minimum -- good ol' PNW mainstay -- that makes it a lot easier to see the pavement. But, I don't do that often because it's several long days of work to cover all that ground.

I've got manually toggled auxiliary backup lights on the truck, and they light up the driveway like daylight. If I can come close to that with the SC, it seems like a much better solution than trying to modify the space any further.

I suppose the other important question is, if a LED reverse bulb does trigger the dash warning light, would it do so only when in reverse? If so, I could certainly live with that. (Does voltage flow to the bulb all the time, and it's ground-activated, or does it only receive voltage when lit up? If the latter, I would assume the dash warning light only comes on when the bulb is activated.)

I think it will stay on, since the same can be assumed with the stop lights, and mine stay on after press the brake pedal
