do reverse lights trigger dash warning?
My driveway is a challenge to back down at night, especially when it's rainy and pavement is barely discernible from grass. (The driveway curves and drops away to one side, eliminating consistent sight lines.) It's no secret that I've long disliked the SC side mirrors in general, but in that situation there's almost zero visibility with them. I figured adding some brighter reverse lights could help with that, without having to resort to an add-on light that wouldn't incorporate well.
The '97-00 tails take wedge base bulbs, which I believe are 7440's for the reverse lights -- listed as such in various lists -- not the twist base 1156's mentioned in all the SC forum posts that don't break down the years. Thus the reason for asking about '97-00 specifically.
I have some bright 1156 LEDs in the other car and was hoping to test whether they trigger the dash light, but obviously couldn't use them. So, before ordering some 7440's to try, hopefully someone has already tested it?
If I pressure wash regularly to keep moss to a minimum -- good ol' PNW mainstay -- that makes it a lot easier to see the pavement. But, I don't do that often because it's several long days of work to cover all that ground.
I've got manually toggled auxiliary backup lights on the truck, and they light up the driveway like daylight. If I can come close to that with the SC, it seems like a much better solution than trying to modify the space any further.
