Default Tried to order but got hard sell on hybrids in stock.instead

This was not unexpected, but my try at ordering an RZ became a hard sell session for a hybrid, which just happened to be in stock, and was a much better vehicle for me - at least according to the dealership. It seems my long-time dealer is allotted a single RZ per month, and has these already sold for the next year. Thus the hard sell for hybrids.

So I am looking at Volvo, Tesla, and BMW as alternatives. I was a loyal 6 time Lexus buyer until this week. Is this hybrid pushing a corporate thing, a dealership thing, or a salesman thing?

Surprised they are trying to push a hybrid. Here, hybrids are sold before they hit the lot.

That is interesting. I just checked my dealers on the lot available for sale hybrid inventory and they have exactly thirty hybrids ready to go. No wonder they are working so hard to move them.

Update. Another dealership 60 miles away was much more cooperative, and made no attempt to steer me towards a hybrid. I ordered a RZ and it is scheduled to arrive in a few weeks. It will even be delivered to my home, and my trade-in picked up.

I think it was a matter of the first dealership salesman wanting to make a quick sale rather than wanting to deal with an order. But it also could be orders from the sales manger as well to move out remaining 2023 inventory on the lot.

I honestly believe an NX plug in hybrid or even the regular hybrid is a better vehicle than the RZ. If I were selling cars, Id do the same. NX450h+ has a 600 mile range, the RZ has a 180 mile range. lol.

The RZ doesn't even come with a glovebox...

RZ haters gonna hate. Since I bought mine, most everyone I talk to with any car knowledge parrots the poor range line to me. It gets tiresome to explain that my LX is for road trips, and that my RZ is my town car, only recharged in my home garage once a week or so. And that I get about only 250 miles of range from a full gas tank with the LX, and that my real driving range of either vehicle is based solely on how my old prostate gland is doing at the time.
