Default Range decrease overtime after full charge

I have been noticing that since I have purchased the RZ it started with 230 miles with full charge and over time I have been seeing decrease slowly and this morning with full charge it’s 193 miles.

has anyone been noticing this as well and is this something normal?

BTW, this is on level 2 charger.

I'm not sure what is the problem here. The car is rated 196 miles. The 230 you saw must have been with the AC off. Looks like Lexus rated the car with the AC on. If you can handle driving with no AC/heater, you can probably get 250 miles.

Any update on this? I recently purchased a RZ in August and am noticing the same behavior. When I first got it, 100% charge was getting between 196-220 range and last night 100% charge said 179. Hopefully it’s just a software bug.

A few things to point out:

- you bought a car with sub 200 mile range (196 miles in best case scenario: driving around town with no AC) -- anything over 196 is a bonus, but expect it to be less because you can't handle driving with no AC. It's time to face reality.
- what you are seeing is an estimate from the guess-o-meter
- If you want the guess-o-meter to show 196+ miles, do not drive on the freeway at 65-80 mph with AC on
- To make yourself feel better and not have buyer's remorse, drive around town (no freeways), AC off for ~200 miles and then monitor the ACTUAL miles you got. Is it still 176 or will it be closer to 196?

I don't bother looking at the range anymore other than to see if I need to charge. Just enjoy the car because the way the car drives is the best I have ever experienced. Lexus got the driving dynamics dialed in.

I appreciate your reply, but I don’t think you understand the problem. I am aware that there are two different range scenarios that the car outputs. One with climate control on and one with it off. What is happening is that both of the numbers have dropped in the month since owning the car. Now when charging to 100% my ranges are 179-200 instead of 196-220 and I haven’t changed any settings on the car. Only thing that is different is that I finally got my 220 charger installed and am using that instead of the 110.

He understood you perfectly.

Those range numbers you are seeing are based off of driving habits and economy trends. If you drove the car down a 150 mile long hill with the AC on, it's going to give you a range of like 550 miles, lol.

The number haven't dropped for the sake of dropping, they dropped do to your driving habits and conditions. Your 220 vs 110 charger is irrelevant.

Low passenger and cargo weight, low average speeds, constant cruising, higher tire pressures, windows wound up, moderate temperatures, and no air conditioner nor sound system, nor nighttime driving - will all enhance mileage.
On the other hand, high passenger and cargo weight, high average speeds, constant stop-start driving, low tire pressures, extremes in cold/heat, windows wound down, and air con, sound system and headlights - will all require more electricity.

I've only had mine for a couple weeks, but I've set the maximum charge to 90% with the hopes that it will extend the battery. It's sad that the range is so weak. I wish there were after market batteries or something that could be added to extend the range.

I think that the range display number is determined by an algorithm which factors in all past data rather than beginning anew each time the RZ is charged. In that case it is not unexpected for the full charge range number to adjust downward for a while until enough data accumulates to level off, especially for an RZ not driven aggressively.

That's it.

Default Range Decrease RZ

Yes totally have an issue. But the decrease was even faster for me. It only charged once to 252 miles. Since then 195 is the max. I thought it due to cold weather but it is spring now, and still an issue.

What is your Total Average?
I've got my vehicle for 2 months only.
My full charge started as 196 miles (as on the sticker) and 2.9 miles/kW.
Now my Total Average is 3.2 miles/kW and my full charge shows 212 miles.
It's all depends on the way you drive, I guess.
