Agreed!! I got one, sight-unseen, at the dealer. Test Drove it and fell head over heels basically instantly. It's f'ing badass.
Couldn't believe I both somehow did not get hosed on dealer overage and also didn't have to be on a wait list for 6 months. Crazy. I had tried the NX Plug-In last year and TBH did not love it. Found the ride a bit more cramped than the CR-V I was planning to replace with it. The RX is always an awesome car but it's too large for my current purposes and (hilariously?) doesn't even fit in my garage. Plus I live in San Francisco and I'm starting to feel like a jerk paying for California-priced gas ($$$) AND ruining the planet with CO2. Wife was a bit nervous about range anxiety and getting the Fully-Electric over a Plug-In, but I wanted to lean into it -- there are so many chargers around now and this puppy will go from 30-80% in 30 min with DC Fast Charger even if CR thinks it's not fast enough. Seems totally fine to me in the first week weeks of driving and I don't even have a home charger yet.
Anyhow-- this is my first Lexus and obv beats the pants off the old CR-V in terms of, well, everything. Vibes of it not feeling 'luxury enough' -- cmon. It's a BEAST. Looks like a f'in spaceship. Kinda feels like a DeLorean in the Silver paint job. Pickup is insane and with Wireless CarPlay, I'm super happy with the nav/console/etc cause it's just a giant iPhone.
Had the standard steering wheel as that Yoke thing seems insane, even if some people love it. I think that's not coming out till the 2024 model anyway. They didn't have the Luxury Trim when I was there so went with the only option they had (the "Premium"). It's kick ***. Hard-pressed to find anything wrong with it. I suppose would be better if the sunroof opened, but I had that on my EX-L CRV and I feel like I never opened that thing. Not a huge dealbreaker, for me anyway. The trunk space not as big as I got used to in the CR-V, and oddly enough there's no Frunk -- the front is housing the 2nd drive for the AWD, I think the dealer said. It's definitely more cramped if you really load it up. Thought the LED Rear-View was a gimmick and then instantly used it when I drove to the airport with a fully-loaded trunk.
Yeah, I guess the Range could be longer, and reviews all tend to complain about that. But charging seems kinda straightforward these days, and again, I don't even have a home Level 2 yet. Beats paying a fortune at the gas station. For the random one-off Tahoe or LA trips, I think it would be fine to stop at the odd fast charger and get a juice up once for 30-60 min. If you did that a ton I could see this being annoying, but if you don't drive super long distances all the time, this car rocks the damn house.

I am super super pleased with it. Haven't driven the new RX but test-driving an RX a while back, it felt more 'truck-like' than this -- this is strongly in the small SUV/crossover camp, whereas I feel like the RX is sortof mid-size SUV style. Like, the RX drives more like a Highlander to me than a RAV. I am just loving the RZ. I had test-driven the NX a couple of times last year and actually didn't love it, was planning originally to get the NX PHEV but when the RZ came out we were pretty sold right off the bat. It drives great -- smooth, super comfortable, super quiet cabin, easy smooth drive, and love that EV acceleration. I find it very comfortable and very slick. Review haters have been crapping on the range, but who the heck drives 220 miles in a day?!??! C'mon. If you're driving 100 miles commute each direction per day, then this might not be for you. But I clock a good 60 miles a day total and am not having any issues keeping it charged. Installed a home charger after a month as it's just so straightforward to have that, but public charging and at the office and the superfast Electrify America chargers have been great.
We're going to take advantage of the Lexus Reserve program to get an RX Hybrid for a longer road trip coming up, that's a free rental program so you can get a Hybrid or ICE car for a longer road trip just so you don't have to deal with charging. It's so straightforward though that we figured we'd just take the RZ anyway, but then thought it might be fun to get a free RX rental anyway so took advantage of it.
I am upgrading from a Honda CR-V here so this was a huge leap in comfort and fun and tech upgrades. But I've been super happy on all fronts, it drives like a dream, it looks f'ing awesome, and it's wonderful not to be actively contributing planet-ruining emissions into the atmosphere anymore. Oh yeah, and depending on what your PG&E plan is or whatnot, we're paying probably 1/4 of what we have been paying for with gas (with gas at current $4.50/$5.00-ish -- when it was $7?!? Forget it!) So that cost savings was immediate and great as well. Too bad we missed the EV Credits thing on this, but it was way worth waiting for this, not getting screwed by dealer overages from 2022, and getting a Japanese-made beauty like this which kicks the Model Y's butt in my opinion, design-wise, build-quality-wise, and more and more. Only thing it's not crushing everyone else on is prob range and charging speed, but if you mostly only ever charge overnight at home, parked in your garage, that doesn't really matter anymore like it did a few years ago.
