Default What about the FX45?

Anyone driven the FX45?

Still looking for good AWD or 4WD daily driverish car/truck, and now this has come onto my radar since we shot down the touraeg diesel (too much $$$) and the X3 Diesel (crap quality).

I love the FX outside, inside is OK but I to was looking at one as a "nice" winter ride with style.

I checked out the 35 and I thought it was a pretty nice truck....... Used, with just a few miles, they are pretty cheap man...............

Drives more like a sports sedan than an average SUV with flat cornering & responsive steering. I almost bought one instead of my G35 coupe because I like it's interior better. I didn't go for it just because I don't really need the utility of an SUV for now.
The ride with the sports tuned suspension & the 20" wheels can be too firm for some, though I've heard they soften them up a bit for the 04's. I've only driven a 03 but I've heard that the difference in ride is minimal, so the best is to test drive one yourself.
The cargo space is also smaller compared with most of its competitors, so it may not be right for those who need to haul a lot of stuff all the time. But it's certainly more fun to drive than an average SUV, ideal for those who needs some utility but wants a sportier ride. I've also heard that gas mileage is not great though. You can go to the freshalloy.com FX forum to search for more info.

My GF has FX35 base model she got it first week it came out.
she was looking for new car (her maxima was starting to fall apart) and since all her friends(girls) drive SUV and she drove many of them (X5, RX, MDX, ....) she decided SUV will be here next car.
We shoped around X5 4.4 was to much mula, 3.0 was not enough punch for here, RX was Ok but 4x4 was all time and gas price is on the rise.... so i told here to wait, but i didnt tell her for what.
i knew Infiniti is about to get shipment of FXs. so when i saw one in the dealership next to my house i took here there. 2 days later we picked up here FX35

to tell you the truth, if i knew this car was comming out, i would most likely not buy my IS300.
i know many people will not share my opinion, but I LIKE EVERYTHING ABOUT FX35/45. there is not one thing i would change. well no i would change the price

so far there was absolutely no problems with the car, she had a flat while i was away but roadside took care of it in less than 20min. it took NYC winter like a champ. i took it to ToysRUs snowed in parking lot one night. i had to turn everything off (TC, 4x4, VSC) be4 i was able to have some fun with it. with all this stuff ON it was like on the rails. on dry road it is not to far from my IS300. it is best handling SAV i have driven. and if you can get around with out v8 torq, this new 280hp v6 will put a big smile on your face. and dont forget about the exhost note

sorry for long post splng and gram. my eng isnt to good

The FX45 would be a far better buy quality-wise than either the Touraeg or the X3. Its ride is very firm with the stock tires and suspension....if this is an issue with you, get the more softly-sprung FX35 (and you'll save money, get better mileage, and have maybe cheaper insurance to boot). Nissan / Infiniti interiors don't impress me, though...if you want a nice interior and are willing to give up some reliability, get the Touraeg. VW / Audi, along with Lexus, leads the industry in this area....classy interiors.

I owned 2003 FX45 for about 2 months...People may not agree but the ride was too stiff for us, especially for my wife. The leather doesn't seem to be good quality. Oh and there's quite a few rattles, at least on the 2003. There's plenty of posts at freshalloy.com about the leather and rattles...

Just like others said...It drives a lot like sport car than a SUV

I love this car. My buddie has the FX35 and we took it for a road trip last summer, like 400 miles back and forth and this car is solid. It rides a little stiff but I think that has to do with the 20" factory wheel!!!!!! Overall I love it.

I don't honestly think the suspension could possibly be too stiff for my tastes.... Stiff suspension does not bother me

If the suspension is really the only gripe perhaps I should check one out

I love the FX45. It's my favorite SUV along with the RX330.
I love Ultra-Modern design and it doesn't get any more modern
looking that the FX. Also the fact that it's more like a sports coupe
than traditional SUV draws me in. Finally, those 20's look fabulous!

The FX is what the Porsche Cayenne wish it was.
It doesn't make any sense that the Porsche is much
less sporty than the Infiniti.

Not always, but I agree in many cases it does.
In the case of the FX, I wouldn't say it's overly trendy
and I think it will look good for years to come. It's certainly
far from timeless but not a fad.

Another example is the fabulous G35 coupe.
This is clearly one of the most modern looking
cars on the road and I think we'll all agree that
its design will endure for quite some time.

I really like the way the FX looks inside and out. I test drove one and it felt really nice to drive. It felt like i was driving a car and not an suv because of the good handling and power.

Test Drove some cars today that may "fit the bill" for me. I drove an FX35 and FX45. I also drove a new S4.

Basically my goal here is to get down to 1 car for a while that will be reasonably fun to drive, work in all 4 seasons, and also be good for road trips. I think the S4 might be a bit tight with 4 people in it, but that thing was actually pretty fun to drive. The motor sounds NICE. However I can pick up a leftover 03 FX45 for @$42k, and a demo 04 FX35 for like $37k.

I am not going to move on anything until I close on my house this coming friday, but after that I may make a move on one of the FX's.. It just seems much more useable, and also a hell of a lot better deal than the S4. The S4 I could get bought for $50k even, but is it really worth that extra $8k~$13k? I don't know...

Hmm.
