Hey all I’m debating 8 or 10 years. It goes up in price about 1300 for those 2 years or 700 a year compared to 1800 for first 8 years. Seems like a significant jump in price right?

Sounds like they know repairs escalate in those “out years”. $1800 for years 4-8 doesn’t sound bad. I think I’d do that. You’ll want the rapidly evolving new tech by then anyway.
These warranties are huge profit makers for the Dealers. Prices can vary wildly and if feel you can not live without one, shop around as you can but from any dealer, even out of state.
"Four grand" would have paid for ALL of the repairs that would have been covered by an extended warranty on the four Toyotas I have owned since 1990, because there were no such repairs.
yep. My 2013 has had zero repairs which is why I bought a Lexus and why I’m getting a new one on Tuesday. The initial warranty should take care of any early bugs if which I had none
My dealer went down to twenty three hundred dollars and I still said no. That's when he moved on so I'm guessing that was low as they can go and make money.
No, extended warranties rarely pay for themselves. The insurance companies that provide them and the people that sell the get a lot of profit from them. If you can pay for a big repair, skip them.
How many of us will own their Lexus for 8 years? I think only a few. Maybe for them the extended warranty “might” help.
I tend to keep vehicles for a long time. As I patiently wait for our no-ETA RX 350h, I'm in the 2014 Pathfinder that is now almost 10 years old. And FWIW, extended warranty paid for itself many times over in the 8 years it was active.

Unless you own a Dodge. Had one for an AWD Grand Caravan that cost about $3K CAD and paid out about 17K in repairs.
At least the Guila is a great drive. Unlike a soccer mom vehicle. And yeah, as a general rule, extended warranties are a sucker's bet. I am counting on the Toyota/Lexus reputation for reliability to not need one. But if in 4 years it does, we can still get it from the dealer at a small upcharge, but i would probably sell it.
