That’s not true, by a long shot! A genuine Lexus extended warranty is honored at all Lexus dealerships. Even our local Toyota dealer did three major repairs under the extended warranty.

There are some dealerships who sell third party, or their own warranties but anyone who dues the least bit of due diligence would stay away from those scams.

I recently purchased a 2025 RX350h luxury. The dealer offered me a Lexus platinum warranty (10 yr/120k miles) with $100 deductible for $2200. I turned it down, but now seeing the prices for the no deductible warranty, I'm second guessing myself.

Really? Where can I get this for my 2023 RX350h that is 33 months old? Seriously? Can I get this for $2200? I'd do that in a heartbeat.

120K isn’t one of Toyota’s options so it was either the 125k or 100k and the price DRASTICALLY varies between the two. I did a bunch of research and contacted dealers over the country and recently paid $3400 for 10 years, 125k on my IS350 for $0 deductible and that is a really good price

I’d make sure that’s an authentic Lexus Platinum product. If it was, it would be zero deductible and have a 10 year/125k mile time frame.
You also have to compare coverage, side by side.

That’s a good deal, indeed. But the RX runs $20-$25k more expensive than the IS. A Platinum warranty from one of the two major discounters runs $3185 or $4450 for 10 year/100k miles or 10 year/125k miles, respectively.

Just wanted to frame things in the context of this forum.

If you are not keeping your car more than 3 years then an extended warranty would not give you any benefit. You would still be under the manufacturer's bumper-to-bumper warranty when you traded your vehicle, so for you it makes no sense. Consumer reports saying it's not a good buy has to be taken with a grain of salt. Part of that logic involves being disciplined enough to put the money you would have spent on the warranty aside in a repair fund. Also, an extended warranty basically works like any other insurance. The contract provider (in this case Lexus Financial) prices it based on risk. You may be on one side or the other of that risk curve. That's the gamble you're taking. Using CS's logic, auto insurance isn't a good buy either. Lots of people pay premiums for years and never use it. At least once you buy the extended warranty there are no more payments. You are covered for the entire contract term for that one-time payment.

I'm looking at a 10 year/100k mile Lexus VSA for $3,185 from Troy Dietrich. I plan to keep my RX long term, so for me it's worth considering. Since it's a Lexus VSA it will be honored at any Lexus dealer in the US, and I'd be covered for all those complex electronics that won't be covered by the powertrain warranty. (just my opinion, YMMV).

Default What would you do differently?

I'm brand new to the Lexus Club and am probably in the wrong thread. If you own a Lexus RX350 hybrid, do you have any regrets of not buying the gas version instead of the hybrid or a different Lexus model? I am seriously thinking of buying a new 2026 RX350 Hybrid and wondering if the gas version would be a better long term buy. I keep cars for ever and now days don't put on lots of miles. I would like to take any wisdom learned from others.

Just the opposite. Every day I’m more glad that t spent a little more and got the hybrid. Gas really doesn’t matter on a $65,000 vehicle, but as premium gas is spiking to about $5, that would have annoyed me all the time. Fuel costs for the hybrid are about half.

Depends on your use case. With the rx hybrid, trickle charging or basic 12v monitoring to prevent a flat battery (non traction) is a must or else.

Periods of extended inactivity on a hybrid is a no go.

Hello everyone, I'm fairly new to the forum...glad I found this site - Quick question regarding the extended warranty from Troy and others — we’re ready to move forward with purchasing a 10-year extended OEM VSA for an 2024 RX350h. I’ve been told that some type of inspection may be required as part of the process by all the dealerships locally. We’re planning to work with Troy at Toyota of Greenfield (he’s not local), so I wanted to check: does anyone know if an inspection is actually required or typically completed in this situation? Has anyone ever brought a VSA from Troy?
