Default Wiper Blade Replacement (NOT REFILLS) RX 5Gen

I replaced the wipers on our 24 RX today. I used TRICO OEM replacement blades (26" driver and 18" passenger) since they've worked well for me for many years now. The installation was simple and took no more than a few minutes for both front blades. Place blades in service position - Press POWER once, twice and three times (no need to step on brake) and then press the wiper stalk UP for two seconds or so and watch the blades move into service position. From there, the OEM blades have a small tab which you can lift up with your finger or place a key tip in there if it's stubborn - pull the blade DOWN to release it from the J hook arm. Careful not to let the arm back down onto the glass at that point. From there, the beauty of the TRICO blade is it hooks right onto the arm right out of the package - you can discard the adapters it comes with as they're not needed in this application. Save a few $$ from having the Stealer do it

You can also put them into service position by holding the stalk up after shutting the vehicles off. For the rear you have to shut it off while the wiper is in mid sweep.

We always replace OE blades when needed with Bosch Icon blades. We have had good luck with them.

I haven't touched the rear wiper on either RX we've owned but yes on the service position approach.

Makes sense - you go with what has worked well for you. Do the Bosch install easily as well?

I've been using OEM replacement rubber inserts for all 3 wipers for years.

They are cheap (now $15 cad, after the 50% price increase due to 2.5% inflation rate). Easy to swap the rubber.

Dealers usually swap them for free.

I never saw a dealer do anything for free other than allow you to breath the air in the waiting room. Maybe a bagel on top of that

Yes. Less than 5 min out of the box.

I like Bosch also. But, at my age I buy them at Autozone and sit in the drivers seat while they put them on and yes, looks like they go on quite easily 😱😇

We bought Lexus refills when we bought the RX, just to make ours last longer. So far, so good (3 years).

Another thing that has prolonged the life of our blades has been to leave the wiper stalk on OFF until it actually starts raining! I found that the automatic function was a bit too sensitive, resulting in smearing the dirt when a sprinkle occurs.

I just buy the OEM refills when they are on sale at the on line Lexus dealers and keep a spare set in the garage. Super cheap and they work just fine.
