Default Android Auto Vs Native Lexus system

When I'm using the Lexus system my screen shows the music, map, settings icons on the left along with the AA map icon at the top left. When I hit the AA icon all the icons on the left disappear & I have to go back to bottom left, hit the box, pull up my phone which is mirrored to the screen, hit the Lexus icon to get back. I've googled & there is info about changing settings on my phone, etc., to keep the icons showing but nothing seems to work. Has anyone been able to keep the Lexus native icons on the left of the screen while using AA? One other thing, is it possible to have your music channels show along with a map on a split screen. Also googled this & couldn't find anything. TIA.

You can't keep the Lexus-specific icons on the far-left strip while you are inside the Android Auto interface, when AA launches, it takes over the entire screen.
But why do you hit the "box" and find the Lexus icon on your phone? just look for the Lexus app icon within your AA app drawer... You can customize the order of apps on your phone, so the Lexus icon is close to the very top, that way it's always the first thing you see when you hit the AA menu button.

The workaround I use is to say "Hey Lexus, tune to (e.g.) 99 FM" while in AA, and you'll get it without diving into the menu.

Thanks for the info. I was hoping it could all be done thru the Lexus screen as once I'm in the car my phone is stashed. Was also hoping the radio stations when on the left side of the screen I could get the map instead a picture of who's playing, unfortunately that seems to also be a no-go.

there is an arrow on top left corner of android auto. If you hit that it takes you to Lexus menu.

First time trying to upload a pic, but here's what I get when I switch to AA. I have to go to the box on the lower left, click & then hit the Lexus icon on the screen to get back to native Lexus-map, music, etc.

This is what I am trying to keep to the left of the screen regardless of whether I am in 'Lexus' mode or AA. Would just make it easier switching from one to another.

Android Auto had an update about six months ago making it mush easier to revert back to the Lexus interface by just tapping the arrow down.

You don't have a down arrow in the very upper left above the time/battery indicators? Try updating the AA on your phone.

I have a S24 and wife S22 and both in an update to AA received the down arrow. Do you know anyone with a S22 or newer that you could pair to your vehicle and see if they have the down arrow?
If you go to your your phone settings click Android Auto then at the bottom hit version and then about at the bottom you will see Android Auto. This is the latest version. Some older phones do not receive all the updates.

check you phone to see if it has an available software update. 1/26/2026 is the last time this phone will receive an update.

Mine is showing same update, version 15.9.655114. May have to get another phone since this month is the last update. Hate that they do the planned obsolescence on these things...

I have this updated version of AA on my Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra but, it doesn't display any info on my HUD, when I am in AA or Google Maps mode.
