I have a 23' RX 350, dropped off for 20k service yesterday. In the 2026 Loaner, I noticed the little dash pocket cubby is illuminated, but not in my 2023 is not. Is the standard, a new thing, or unique the multi-color ambient lighting package?
They changed the lighting starting in 2025, the middle cubby, and side pockets have lights now, and they get brighter than before by a good margin. There's also now a light for the buttons for the door handles...or it it was there before, it was too dim. They seem to roll out little changes with no fanfare.
Is the brighter ambient light just a software upgrade? I wish my 24 Premium Plus can be brighter!
It's not unfortunately, I've had a 2023 and 2025, the lighting itself looks different, it's hardware based. It's 50% brighter I'd say, and in more areas. They no doubt made many changes, albeit small, between the two years, not just in the lighting.
The '23 has terrible lighting. I have complained to my dealer numerous times about the foot-well lighting. It is practically non-existent. I keep a small flashlight in the center console, in case I need to see anything inside the car. The Dealer says this is normal (NOTE: I have tried all the different settings and nothing changes).
I didn't follow the advice of Consumer Reports, who says to never buy the first year of a new generation/major revision of a car. Stupidly, I bought the first year of the Gen 5, the 2023 RX Luxury. I have never really liked this car, starting with the noisy 4-cylinder Turbo engine. This car has been "cheapened" to the degree that I could have saved $$$ by buying a Toyota Highlander. I previously owned 2007, 2014 and 2016 RX 350s and loved them all. Each model seemed to be a little less car than the one before it. I plan to dump this car later this year.

Thanks for your response. Looks like Lexus provides a few minor upgrades to the RX every year; unfortunately they are not software upgrades.
