Default Car won't start after using 12V Plug

I have a 2024 RX350h, used the rear 12V to pump my rear tires (put it on accessory and did not start car). When I was finished I noticed the car won't unlock (even using the manual method with keyfob did not open the door). Luckily the tailgate was still open and was able to climb to the front, but the car won't even start. The DRL's and headlights are on with a little flickering. Anyone know what is going on?

Update: looks like battery was dead. Crazy after only 2 years it’s done. Got it replaced.

Definitely want to start your car before doing that again.

I never use ACC mode.

Also, keeping the tailgate open keeps the trunk light on fulltime.

after all the battery issues with the hybrids , when my 2023 rx500h was totaled on labor day , being i couldn’t find a new one in stock i bought a rx 350 turbo premium plus instead .

there were no hybrids available locally but i didn’t want another one . to many battery issues as well as the transmission shifts i thought when going from ev to gas were not smooth at all

We are on our third hybrid, including six month old RX350. I have never noticed or felt it when it switches between EV and ECO mode, which is our default.
Were you, perhaps, keeping it set in SPORT mode?
I can see how that would make a difference.

The RX500h has a completely different type of transmission from the 350h and 450h+.

On the RX models from 2023 onward, I haven’t seen any more issues with the switch between the electric motor and the gasoline engine. That used to be noticeable (a bit jerky) on the models up to 2018.

The only thing to keep in mind is the 12-volt starter battery in the trunk. due to the peculiar charging system, it is charged only briefly and intermittently. In my case, it’s usually at about 50 percent charge, even though I drive around 25 km daily. Annoyingly, the starter battery always sits at just around 12 volts. Since this week, it’s been about 12.00 to 12.12 volts. It just needs to be used correctly. don’t drain it by leaving the interior or trunk lights on, charging your phone, keeping the doors open while cleaning, or using accessories on the cigarette lighter without having the car in EV mode.

Unhappy Lexus drivers should try driving a new Audi or something equally annoying for a year.

every reason you listed for the battery is why i did not want another hybrid .

the dead battery issue is a big problem in the forum .

it was unheard of not to be able to play my car stereo while. cleaning my car until i got my rx500h .

i also found the hybrid rx 350h much more sluggish than my rx 350 turbo and coming from the rx 500h they both felt sluggish but the hybrid was worse to me

Minor issues? We've had our 450H+ battery die 5 times now very randomly. When it dies everything locks up and you can't open the doors or trunk. Have to call AAA to jump start. I am 71 and my husband is 78 and in a wheelchair which is kept in the trunk which we then can't open so he's stuck in the car. Lexus is looking at it on the 22nd but have not much hope. We don't know what to do!

that is a story that repeats and repeats with the hybrids and why i decided to go turbo 4 and not hybrid again .

the work around was i carried a booster pack in the car not the back .

but i didn’t want to worry about a dead battery anymore

Install an Ionic Emergency Start and a Bluetooth battery monitor. Fully charge the 12v battery with a charger when the resting voltage drops below 12.4

Since doing the above, I've not had any issues with failure to start and if I did, I could just turn on the Ionic Emergency Start from my phone

it is really putting a band aid on a real issue

A bandaid that prevents being stranded is a good thing. We're talking $60k class vehicles and a $100 emergency starter. I'd rather install it and never use it than get stuck in an area with poor cell coverage or otherwise not have use of a car when it's important to get somewhere.

It's all about each person's risk tolerance. If I can avoid a potential problem for $100 it's a no-brainer for me. Likewise, when we bought a new car this year I was hard-over on it having a spare tire - last summer we were in middla-nowhere when we got a pretty bad flat (decades since I'd had a prior flat), and having a compact spare saved the day.
