2025 Engine in new Tacoma - is it the same
2025 Tacoma has 2.4 turbo. Is this the same as RX350? If so why does it get a rec for regular and RX has one for premium fuel? Not trying to start a flame war here but am curious on this. I put premium in mine and don't plan on changing anytime soon

Same thing with Toyota Highlander which is regular as well, it all about the tunning in ECU which is different. Basically that tunning allows for better performance, but at same time is making you use prem fuel to achieve it and meet requirements.

Tuning from the factory will vary slightly, as already pointed out and there may be some differences in the internals across the applications too. The motor in the Tacoma is Longitudinal mounted while the RX, HL and Crown are all transverse mounted. So there are definitely differences in plumbing, intake and exhaust parts. The complaints regarding the engine noise amongst some RX owners is likely. due to the fact that the turbo/exhaust maniforls is tucked right up against the firewall. Doesn't bother me, but perhaps they could have done a better job insulting the firewall to lower the engine noise in the cabin for those whom are bothered by it.
