Default Key not detected

Has anyone encountered the "Key Not Detected" message when trying to start the vehicle? ~20°F. Usually in the morning. Starts from the app just fine. Purchased 2 months ago. No other notifications.

Push the lock button then unlock button (on the fob). Does it work then?

If your fob was turned off (hold down lock and double click unlock) then the car won't see it until you wake it back up.

You can try holding the fob up against the start button to see if it detects it. I had this issue on my CT200H and it just turned out the fob battery was low although I would be surprised to have a bad battery in the fob on a new vehicle, but you never know.

I had a bad key fob battery in my RX that I took delivery of less than a year ago. My symptom is kept making me hold the key up to the start switch. New battery seemed to fix it.

Agreed: OP, either ask the dealer to replace the fob's battery, or do it yourself if you live a distance from your dealer. Fob battery replacement is recommended at the 15,000 mile/18 month service. Hmmm....

BTW, the video says to buy a battery from Amazon. Due to reports of counterfeit and discharged batteries, I prefer to buy batteries at a brick-and-mortar store.

I'm having the same issue in my 2015 CT200H. However, it's also happening when a passenger exits the vehicle and closes their door while the car is running.

My key fobs are OEM with fresh batteries.

Does anyone know why this is happening?
