Question on dealer offered window tinting
I am looking at a new 2025 RX350h Premium Plus. One of the dealer add-ons that is being pushed is window tinting.
Don't most new RX350s already have window tinting, and what benefit would this have?
I have seen other threads about the front driver/passenger windows being lighter that the rear adjacent windows, and additional tinting added to match.
I think the back window is heavily tinted already but can't tell.
Thanks.

Everything is tinted with the exception of the front driver/passenger and windshield of course.
More tinting is not really needed unless you live in a place like Arizona. In either case I would shop around outside the dealer as they most likely have a high markup.

the car comes from the manufacturer tinted 30%, except the front doors.
Price to tint the front doors should be approx $200 total. A quick google search will likely provide several options to tint windows. If I had to guess, the dealer is offering the service to you for anywhere $350-500+. The funniest part is that it's sub-contracted and the person doing the work is likely the person that you would find via Google.

@cospinner When we bought our 24, one of the first things I did was have windows tinted as I always do with any vehicle.
I just had them do the 2 front side windows to match the rears. I also did the sunroof glass and only use Ceramic tint. It cuts out the heat from the sun dramatically. I can now keep roof sunshade back & not feel the suns heat even in summer. If I remember correctly, it cost me about $200.

My dealer, Sewell in Dallas, had forced dealer installed options that included window tinting. They were up front about it. I asked them to include the moonroof, which they did at no additional charge. Anyway, it turned out excellent. The front door windows are a bit darker than stock. The rear doors, hatch, and moonroof are much darker. They also placed a small sticker behind the tint stating that it was installed by them and it was in compliance with Texas law, citing the section.
I like that you can place any object in the rear and it can't be seen from the outside. Of course, it's also much cooler when sitting in the Texas sun.

When I purchased my vehicle in April 2024 the dealer also tinted my front driver and passenger windows and they did a horrible job! The tint was not installed correctly, didn’t fit the windows, started bubbling and lifting after about a week. I had it removed soon afterwards and had a trusted establishment tint all the windows, except the front windshield. I noticed that my car was significantly cooler compared to just having the front driver & passenger windows tinted with the rest of my vehicle with manufacture tint. I had been told by various car manufacturers that the tint that is applied by the manufacturer is only a privacy tint, not one that protects against heat and UV, which I did confirm with my Lexus salesman. Something to be aware of when considering window tint.
