Anyone bothered by the louder engine in the newer model? I don’t really think it’s a big deal but after hearing the Consumer Reports reviews drone on about the louder engine when revving, I can’t unhear it.

 

Not EVERYONE hates the fake engine sound.

I actually set our RX500h up to be LOUDER. <---that was a LOT cheaper than installing straight pipes on the exhaust!

 

Doesn’t bother me at all.

 

Funny I remember reading people complaining about the drone of the CVT tranny on the previous RX450H with a V6.

Sound levels are subjective. I suspect if there was no engine or tranny sound people would be complaining more about wind or tire noise.

Ever walk into a new home that is empty? You notice all the flaws as there is nothing else to distract you. Put on your favorite music and enjoy the ride.

 

and the prior gen V6 Ice only was notorious for engine drone. There's a never ending thread on that topic.

 

Don't notice it and it doesn't bother me in the least.

 

The 5th gen RX is actually the quietest RX.
