Default Service frequency?

How often is it recommended to get your car serviced? Every 5k or 10k miles? Having a service done at only 5k miles seems low in my opinion. What are everyone's thoughts?

Modern synthetic oils do great for 10k, no reason to worry unless maybe you drive around Baghdad all day.
We had a single problem with something emissions related. The CEL actually came on as we were passing the dealership, lol. We dropped it off and had a loaner 15 minutes later. Simply amazing reliability and service.

How much more often than 5K miles do you think you need for routine service?

follow the manual! No need to make things complicated. And instead of asking for the (for example) 20k service just go a la carte and list the items the manual tells you to take care of, most often just an oil change and some inspections....very reasonably priced, especially if you go to a non Lexus dealer you trust (maybe a Toyota dealer)...

What do you mean "at only 5k miles?"

Are you saying you want to go to the dealer more often lol? That seems like a terrible waste of time.

BMW/Audi/Mercedes require every 10K-ish- the computer actually tells you based on usage

Lexus recommending every 5K is a bit much IMO

Pretty sure that the original post is questioning the 5k as too low of miles. I believe the 5k interval is mainly due to the need for tire rotations.

Maintenance schedule and what is involved can be found here;

I think you're right but the way it's articulated, it can be construed as 5K is not soon enough. It's a free service so why not do it anyway. Get a free bagel at the dealer
