New Lexus issue with DCM
However I must say after that lease I got 2019 F sport and wow what difference it was beyond perfect, and I really had hard time parting ways with it for my 23 RX. I still think I may have made mistake.
Think it all goes back to first year of generation, but I must say yes 23 has it things but are very little compared to what we dealt with in 2016.
OK, so the dealer has had the car two weeks now. Got navigation working last week and was called yesterday and told all was fixed. Drove there for 3rd time (google says it's 88.2 miles one-way) just to find it still wasn't fixed. Something about the old DCM was still assigned to vehicle and so new one can't be activated properly (keep in mind tech notes on invoice says it was activated and system functioning properly). Was told it usually takes at least 24 additional hours for this to get fixed properly. Keep in mind I haven't even driven the car off the lot yet, but they do have $70K+ of my money.
This is on a fully optioned 500h. After the first failure round they said Lexus HQ offered $1k in future use service bucks and dealership tinted the front 2 windows. Is that enough or???
General manager asked me what I wanted to make this right. Not trying to be a jerk, but also don't want to be taken for a pushover. Honestly think future service will be elsewhere.
What seems fair to the forum members?

EDIT: We opted to not take a white 500h (too many white RXs on the road around here). Finally got the Copper Crest RX 500h home on 28 November. Everything looks and functions correctly. Something about the data comm system required them to go back to the module's vendor in Japan to get the security profile switched. Security issue along the lines of ensuring someone isn't able to clone your phone. I suspect (without evidence) that they didn't properly swap over the data comm module and so the vehicle data security system locked it up.

Still not fixed after almost 3 weeks. Spoke with General Manager and he agreed looking like time to move on. Lots of apologies, etc. We will go at it again after the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Question: Was this vehicle previously owned? It may be as simple as provisioning the Lexus Primary Owner under you as it may still be provisioned under the previous owner. This happened to me and it was a simple call from my Lexus Tech Rep to the Regional Lexus and had the account and subscriptions reassigned under me. It took a few minutes for the call and about a day for it to take effect (Did not have to leave the car there). After that, there were no issues and it has been working fine for me since.
You might be able to get a quicker response if you push the SOS button in the car and talk directly with the regional tech support to resolve. I highly doubt it is the DCM, but I am not a mechanic.

I feel the pain of belgradeboy . Our RX350h is in the shop for the same reasons. In fact it has been in the shop many times for related issues. It is easy to say just drive it till the part comes in. We paid a lot of money for a high quality car, or so we thought. So far I would estimate that we have wasted more than 20 hours dealing with these issues. Also, there will be more wasted time, we have had many special settings made to the system that only a service tech can change that may have to be redone(seat belt chime, all windows open and moon roof, blinker settings and much more), . The digital key will need to be redone on 2 phones, more wasted time. I was planning on ordering a LC500 now that it has a new infotainment system, but now I am rethinking that idea.
Thanks.
I believe at one point in time one of the personalization options that only a Service Department could change was to do with enabling/disabling the Seat Belt chime however I'm not sure if Lexus does that anymore as I don't see that option in my Manual.
I think her post was only a few years old.
I know they can still do it, the question is whether they are willing to do it.

There is an OBD2 scanner you can buy that allows you to disable the chime.
I tried to get the dealership to disable the rear liftgate chime (who needs it a 5 AM?) but as it is a safety thing, they would not do it.
Speaking about 'chimes'....
Does anyone here know which speaker(s) are used with this chime signal?
There must be at least a dozen speakers in my car. It sure sounds like its coming from the
front left near me.
I'm having a long-standing issue with a malfunction alert that is driving me crazy.
At the very least until it is fixed, I want to either unhook a speaker or mute it somehow.
Suggestions?

I traded up from a 2013 GS to a 2025 RX450h+. There are many improved and new functions, but in terms of the whole “data” system, a HUGE DISASTER.
The problems seem to have their origins in the shift to a cloud centered system. They could have used the cloud to get data updates or additional details. Instead, they made data connection essential to most of the car’s functions. Stupid choice for many reasons.
First, no data, means no maps. Instead of keeping local storage of a map/POI database, they decided to get everything from the cloud, as needed. This is nice to get the most current info, but if you have no connections, you have no map display capability. What’s unfortunate is that this affects some other functions like traffic assist, I believe. If they had stayed with a local storage, updated as necessary, the navigation system would work fine even without a subscription… like my 12 year old Lexus did!!
Somewhere along the line somebody at Lexus decided that they were going to expand their data collection, and make money from selling the customers’ data. Forcing customers to agree with Lexus’ one sided, overreaching agreement or face losing just about every popular and useful functions is NOT a way to build customer trust and loyalty. This is where I get furious!! They are trying, to appropriate insights into my personal life.
Remember, Lexus, my car is an extension of my house, and I paid you $$$$ for it.
I want to relax in my car,… NOT have to worry if the manufacturer is trying to spy on me, and selling that information to God knows who! You think I’m paranoid? Since I paid for the car, it’s my right to be so!
I never thought Lexus could come up with such horrible design.

Although Toyota can legally sell the customers data by all these agreements, I think they can make a lot more $$ by using the data internally to monetize it by themselves, same as Tesla.
The root cause of all these: Corporate Greed. But we enable them, heck expect them to do it. Stock holders, investors (Direct and in-direct) want companies to keep growing and make more money so that they make more money. Well, where is that money come from?
just my 2cents and my personal opinion. This might be different that others, and I do not intent to insult anyone.
I am a bit confused. Does the car not drive or drive properly because of DCM issue?
It is typically initiated at pre delivery inspection. If it was not then the dealer/Technician did not complete their job. Maybe I am getting older, but human make mistakes and that is completely natural and expected..

Maybe the dealer deliberately did not activate it. Some people may just decide they don’t want to have anything to do with the whole date sharing thing. For most if not all of those things to work, you have to agree to a data sharing agreement, which among other things, lets them track your car all the time.
That may turn some people off, I’m one of those people.
