Most new engines need a break-in period. Usually between 500-1000 miles whereas mileage will then begin to improve.

Are you entirely sure you are seeing accurate. most recent mileage? I have found the RX milage tracking display and resetting not very intuitive. I am still not entirely sure what I am looking at when I see the MPG... Just a thought. BTW, it could also be a glitch in the computer that calculates MPG. The only foolproof old school way to measure MPG is this: Fill the tank. Record the odometer miles. Drive. Refill the tank when low. Record the exact gallons needed to fill. Record the odometer miles. Then to get ACCURATE MPG, device the miles driven between fillips with the number of gallons in the last fillip.

The displayed Fuel economy is from the last time the trip info was reset in Infotainment screen under the car menu.
I usually go under history and update that. That resets the fuel economy + saves the last number in the useless graphs in the beautifully crafted useless bar graphs.

I really would like to ask the people that decided to use these bar graphs instead of the old auto resetting fuel economy for each tank what their rational was.......
They should fire all Toyota and their supplier software designers and let Apple design all HMIs on the car. Toyota can build cars, but obviously software (or at least HMI design) is NOT their expertise

I have a 2023 RX, Luxury package, 2 wheel drive. On a recent 400 mile trip (mostly US Interstate), I averages 28.7 mpg (U.S. Gallons).. I am happy with that. Normal mixed road/traffic is usually 21-25 mpg.

Can't tell why my MPG is low. Perhaps the car is still "new" (700 miles on it) and needs to break in? Note that I have the 21" wheels with correct air pressure, have been using premium fuel, and driving in normal (not Eco mode). I haven't been driving all that aggressively either.
Look at mine. Smooth ride on eco mode. I did not expect that from a Lexus

"Your mileage may vary..."

The fuel economy ratings are based on standardized drive cycles that rarely match an individual's actual drive cycles.

I'd been getting 28-29 mpg on the highway consistently all summer and fall, but I did one of my typical 400 mile round trips this past weekend and only got 24....suspecting the gas winter blend could be to blame, everything else was fine. (temperatures were pretty moderate).

Isn't it meant to be better in the city

Toyota hybrids are usually better in the city, when the ICE motor doesn't run as much.

That said, our 500h is rated 28 city, 27 highway. Not enough difference to worry about....

I was able to get EPA mileage when it was new. But at 20k miles I find that I'm only getting about 22mpg, now. It keeps getting worse.

About two years old, 20k miles, two resets to master MPG and I have never broken 19.2 MPG and is at 18 something now. Now mind you I do have some long HWY drives, but it mostly city and drive it very aggressively.
Per trip if I were to drive it over two hours and keep it under 70MPH, I will get around 25-27 MPG for the whole trip.

Bottom line this isn't any better then prior v6 and now I am in prem fuel.
I do believe if you baby it you will do a lot better, but at high speeds this thing eats fuel.

If your someone that is going baby it anyway, and not really going drive it hard go with 350H no brainer. I just couldn't stand to hear that engine scream trying to get HWY speed and softness of brakes was stopper for me.
