My Oakley Half Jackets worked great on my test drive, but they aren’t polarized either. I dumped polarized glasses for my cars when I needed to see the LED screens well.

But do they PROTECT?

Seriously? Protect from what? Flying glass in a collision, wear a helmet. Protection from the sun, wear a welder's mask. I'm not staring at the solar eclipse. The thread is about polarized sun glasses and HUD visibility. $10 cheapies work just fine for me.

But driving into the sun can be bad for the eyes. Just because your $10 sunglasses are reducing glare doesn’t necessarily mean they protect against sun damage to your eyes. I’m not an eye doc, but $10 sunglasses would make me nervous. Maybe they are fine, but IT’S YOUR EYES. This isn’t an area where I’d want to wear something not a name brand.

I have tried unpolarized sunglasses, off shore, and they don’t cut it. I have an appointment with my eye doctor to get some non-polarized sunglasses in my prescription, just for driving.

Polarized glasses eliminate that annoying dash pad reflection, so I'm staying with them.

LCDs like the HUD and polarized glasses don't play well together because their light maskings are perpendicular to each other.

The HUD might be fine for some but I prefer the hard switches for the cruise control and changing radio stations. The HUD works but sometimes I wish it worked the old way. Just because you can move these functions to the HUD does not mean you should.

I’ve gotten used to it, but I agree.

Question HUD + Sunglasses?

I was driving my new 2024 RX 350h Luxury home yesterday and was wearing polarized sunglasses. These really cut down on the brightness of the HUD and when you go over the speed limit, the speed sign usually turns red, but I couldn't see it at all. Once it turns red, it basically disappears. When I don't wear sunglasses, the HUD is super bright. Anyone have any suggestions on sunglasses that "work" with the HUD?

*Edit* I searched the forum for this topic and this thread didn't come up. I'll take a look and just ignore this post.

Wife has a 2023 NX with HUD. Wear polarized Maui Jim's that can not see HUD. Got a pair of non polarized and works fine.
