Set default drive mode not work
#16
So it’s not merely marketing at all. It’s real. It sets the car to respond to the driver in a way that maximizes fuel ECOnomy. It’s still not exactly clear why it stays in ECO or NORMAL as the chosen default. But common sense suggests that it’s something to do with the government or corporate desire to keep the most efficient setting most of the time. Your claim of “marketing” is bogus.

Sport mode not permanent!
I noticed that after you change the mode to Sport on a 350h, if reverts back to Normal after you have turned off the engine. But if you are in Eco mode, it stays in Eco.

Sorry for the typo, it will not default back to sport when restarted, my error!

eco mode stinks on our hot summer days …customizing it to allow the ac to run more seems to take away most of eco mode benefits ….i may use it now that the weather is cooling down ..this is on the 500h

I use eco all the time with auto on the climate control. If its very hot I will push the A/C button manually for Max cooling. I think in depends on where you live and how hot it gets. Normal mode prob won't cut out the A/C compressor as much.

All in all it is really annoying one cannot get around this limitation to keep it in Sport mode by default.
At this point in time it became a habit to flip it into Sport mode each time I start the car, but it still somewhat annoyes me.

You can set some of the SPORT driving parameters (steering quickness, suspension firmness, A/C effectiveness) to be enabled all the time. That way they are always in effect whether you are in NORMAL or ECO.
