Panoramic shade cover de-rails
I’m about 1200 miles outside of my warranty and of course the panoramic shade cover de-rails. I thought it sounded funky but didn’t think anything of it before the warranty ran out because I never drove another extra with the panoramic roof to hear difference but now that it has de-railed and the mechanism keeps trying to close, I figure that the sound indicated that the problem was there all along. Sucks because it’s so close to the warranty just expiring and this happened right before we left for vacation so will have to deal with this when we get back. Not looking forward to the bill.

Well, some dealers go the extra mile, some don't. Find out what yours will do.

I believe what you are experiencing is one of four black plastic inset covers, that you see spanning from the bottom of the headliner to the top of the roof, has come loose and lodged itself in the way of the rolling shade track of the panoramic roof. When we purchased our RX I asked about known issues and this was mentioned. Apparently the heat and sun loosen the adhesive that hold these black covers into place and they slide out of position. We just had one do this two days ago and I'm making an appointment to have all four properly secured in place. Again, this is a dealer known issue in Southern California. These covers are simply to visually hide the unsightly mechanics in the roof area. I'm also considering having UV reducing window tinting applied to our panoramic sunroof to help prevent this issue in the future.

I have a 2017 Lexus RX350 with the panoramic roof, bought it new from the dealer and have 38,000 miles. Never opened the sun shade all the way. Had a cloudy day this past month and tried to open the shade all the way. EPIC FAILURE. The track fell out of place and the shade would not close.
Took it to the local dealer and the solution is to replace the entire panoramic roof at a cost of $5,500. Are there any other solutions? I can’t believe the track would fall out of place even if it has never been used.
Any other recommendations?

I know a lot of people absolutely love sunroofs, but I would pay $200.00 extra not to have one. Unfortunately to get the doodads I like, the cars I buy bundle them with the packages. Porsche will delete it from their cars, but sadly they're out of my reach, unless you guys want to chip in.

I hate sunroofs. My 2017 came with one and other than the salesman showing us how to open it at delivery, never touched it again for the 3yr lease.
Sounds like it's just the shade and not the glass that's the issue, so it's not an emergency. As others noted, check around at some body shops. I'd guess it might be possible to have the glass covered with as dark a tint as they got and leave it.
