How to display album art from my phone?
One thing I've noticed in my new RX is that the album art shown when music is playing is usually some generic genre art, not the actual album art from my phone (iPhone). Is there a way to show the actual album art when playing music over bluetooth?

current bluetooth 4.0 (and below) on the current RX doesn’t have enough bandwidth to load album art. The new Bluetooth 5.0 can do that.

Here's another. Again, 2018 RX with Note 8

did you have gracenote turned off so it won’t load album art from gracenote?
My 2017 RX never shows album art. It could depends on the music player on the phone I guess. Probably developers can force album art to be transferred through bluetooth. But generally speaking, bluetooth 4.0 and below can’t display album art in default. It just wasn’t designed for these things. Bluetooth 5.0 can do that I believe.

I have gracenote on and get weird pictures all the time, wondered where they are coming from! Will turn off next time in car. What is gracenote anyway? I thought it only found images if art was missing??

I looked on google to see if there is anyone providing gracenote database for free, but I can't find anything. Toyota won't provide those on the website. I guess, like maps, we have to go through the dealer. However, I was able to grab an instruction (see attached). Let me know if you can find out.

That sucks that it can't show album art and that Toyota locks it down so it can't be updated. I really wish they would get out of the 80s thinking and open up more to user performed updates like other car makers.
I guess mystery solved and now just to decide if I want to turn gracenote off and have no album art, or have album art that is wrong like 70% of the time.

they now offer carplay and android auto! Hopefully that indicates they are slowly open their mind. I still hope they would retrofit support for 2016-2019 models (chance are slim tho).

I suppose we have it good compared to new Toyota buyers. We looked at a 2019 Toyota 86 & it literally had NOTHING, just AM & FM. No CD, no SXM - it was pathetic.
