I recommend to read less forums and get into an F-Sport. The transmission is fine and if you feel uncomfortable just tell your dealer flat out what your expectations are...and that you are willing to return the car if you don't like it. It's your money. You're the boss.

If comparing to a BMW, you'll enjoy sitting in traffic more, it's comfy, spacious and has a decent ML sound system. You'll miss your BMW if you are a Schumacher fan.

PS Those who are pitching 450h solely because it has more torque and hp, ha ha ha, the differences are so negligible. Stop it. Thanks.

Thanks for the responses everyone. I loved my X5 with the sport package and huge (expensive) tires, but the reality is, than in southern Ca one is always in traffic and the freeways all have expansion cracks. So unless you go to a track, you can’t drive the car to it’s potential, and rough roads need softer suspension.
So is the consensus that the 450h with the CVT a better choice to avoid the hesitation problems? I currently also have a Prius so the 450h would be a nice mix to add.

I went lux 450 to avoid any issues, but it is also a smoother experience. Loaded up the same, the 350 and 450 are pretty close in price
both would be a good choice, I would go drive them, and see what you think. Enough posts here about people swapping 350 for 450 and loving the difference. Was enough for us to start with the 450.

Before I got the TSB I was a bit regretful not getting the 450, however now I like the 350 better because I enjoy the sound and feeling of the shifting gears, personal preference. I demoed the 450 and found it very quiet and smooth to the point of being boring. What can I say, I ride motorcycles and have been for many, many years.

I've read some manufacturers are actually developing CVTs that mimic gear shifts because consumers prefer the feel. My wife had a CRV with a CVT and we both hated the ride but I'm sure the Lexus version feels a bit more refined than a Honda

Sport bikes and sport touring rider here, very spirited riding the pace, V8 gm car with suspension and exhaust, no regrets at all going for a smooth rx450.

Anyway it may not be noticeable to you, but calling it "so negligible" is a disservice to potential buyers. When you put the 450h in EV mode and it moves you from 0 to 25mph, you will realize that the electric motors are a lot more powerful than you'd think and has a positive and smoothing effect on the torque curve. But yeah, don't buy the 450h just because of this. There are many other reasons to be discussed elsewhere:
