Question Can the wireless charger pad be removed?

We have no use for the wireless charging pad and if we can remove it easily it'll give us some extra storage space. Any suggestion?

What year model are we looking at? Later models have the charger in the dash and it does not take up any space. It can be used for storage of non metal stuff. It has a separate on/off switch to deactivate.

I'm not sure what "extra storage" space you're expecting to gain. In my RX, the QI charger is under the AC controls on that "shelf". It doesn't really interfere with my ability to place things there, just keep it turned off. That said, I actually set my phone there when using wireless car play so that my phone remains charged while I'm using carplay functions (waze trips, etc). I don't know that it would be "easy" to remove as it seems well integrated and would require a lot of work to get to that piece (in my opinion). At any rate, just refrain from placing any metal there and leave it off and you should be fine.

It's a 2022 RX with the wireless charger in the dash. I thought maybe by removing the charger, it would open up more storage space underneath in that cubby hole. I think you are right that the design is all integrated together so removing it may be nearly impossible and not provide any benefits. My neighbor has a 2022 ES and he has the wireless charger inside the center armrest console storage which he hates.

I had a 2016RX which did not have that option available, and it was literally just a shelf. Its essentially identical in my 2021 albeit with the QI charger there instead. That said, I used to put my phone there because I had no real good place to put it otherwise. Since my 2021 has the "slot" for a phone, I could technically just put my phone there but I'm so used to "sticking it on that shelf" that I keep putting it there out of habit. It's fine tho, allows my wife to stick her phone in the slot so its win-win. To be honest, I keep a cable in the car for fast charging and if I was in a hurry I'd just plug my phone into one of those charging ports under the AC controls rather than use the QI, but when on a road trip the QI is nice because I use my nav apps heavily in car play and when I arrive my phone is still pretty much fully charged. The one disappointment I noticed in my 2021 is that they removed the rear seat armrest console. I had a console in my 2016 and we used that to put snacks and stuff for kiddos or the backseat passengers had that storage. Seems odd that lexus moved that feature to the "Luxury" edition only but given that my car is a 2021, built in 2020, I can only guess that maybe parts constraints came into play so they just decided to remove the console. That said, I bought this 2021 as a CPO so at least its under warranty until 12/2026 just in case of any pandemic shenanigans are in there. Good luck man.
