Default Driver door won’t unlock, all others do though

Hi all,

Can someone explain this problem to me please? I find it so strange.

Mirrors will open, lights will flash and car will beep repeatedly but drivers door won’t unlock. Only the back door unlocks. I have to lock it then try again for it to work properly. It doesn’t happen all the time but I was lucky enough to catch it on video yesterday. Please take a look and let me know what you think:

Sounds like the door lock actuator on the driver’s door may have failed. Do a search for door lock actuators and you will find many references to this. It happens unfortunately. Here is one such discussion in the previous Gen RX: https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...actuators.html Good luck and let us know how it works out.

In the video the door eventually unlocks automatically when I grab the handle, so I believe the actuator is functioning. It's just not unlocking on the first try. It only works if I lock the door then try a second time.

Is your car still under warranty?

You can buy Aisin door latch/actuator assembly on Amazon. I recently did my right rear door. I debated about using a dorman, they might be the manufacturer of Aisin or they use the same supplier, I opted for the Aisin, I’ve had zero problems since changing it. It was 130 dollars cheaper than Bell Lexus price. I paid about 125 for the Aisin on Amazon and left a review, also some advice on the review to prolong the actuator life.
