Confirmed this method with my 2022. So simple to adjust height of door....even a caveman could do it.Originally Posted by msnow
Yes, I prefer the precision of your manual method too and it seems to work on my 2022.

I'll guarantee it's weak gas struts.
The lift motor can't lift the weight of the door so the struts do most of the lifting and also keep it up there once it's up.

Hello all,
My 2016 RX 450H rear hatch stops opening halfway. Looks like a problem with the struts but Lexus is quoting me over $1,300 to fix it!
Looking online, I find the parts for around $80 but wondering if I can go to a non-Lexus repair shop or any other suggestions to what I'm sure is a very common problem? How can this possibly be $1,300 for the struts?

I see no reason you couldn't go to any shop to have the struts replaced. It shouldn't be a difficult job.Originally Posted by relm2

EDIT: first, thanks to the admin for moving my post to the proper thread. I feel stupid for posting this but after reviewing the thread and seeing there was a setting that impacted the default height of the rear hatch, I checked that in my car and saw it was set at 3. Now that it's 5, it is working correctly. So, no service needed! Whew. I had a 20k check last week and while driving there was a momentary power restart which I never had before but it seemed to reboot to default and that must have included the hatch height. Thanks everyone. Originally Posted by relm2

Anyone ever have issues with the liftgate settings not staying programmed? I’ve reset mine countless times and it still doesn’t open correctly. I press the button on the gate and it goes up 6” to 1’ beeps and stops. I press again, down, then again up a bit higher, and on and on until it’s all the way up. It’s maddening.

Is this how your doing it?
If that is how you are doing it and it is still not holding, you may need to take it to your dealer. I've had no issues setting mine at all and it has never "reverted".

Physically push the rear hatch all the way to the top, that will clear all settings. Then try to set it again. Hope that works.
