Hi everyone!
My wife and I picked up our 2022 RX 350 last Friday and are so excited to join the Lexus family.
We noticed our driver and passenger doors were not as easy to close compared to the ones in the back. They need to be slammed shut or else they will be slightly ajar.
We checked the weather strip and saw a 4-5in portion of the weather-strip not affixed to the doors. Oddly, its the same identical section on both sides with the detached weather strips.

Engineering design or bad quality control?
My 2022 450 RXhL is like that (slightly different spots) and I hadn't noticed it before your post but although the doors require a firm shut to close it doesn't feel like it its related but I'll point it out to them at the next service.
Check midpoint of the "loose" piece on the door itself to see if there is a mounting hole for a fastener. That strip is generally held on with a push in fastener, If there is a hole and no matching plastic fastener, you have an issue. If not, then that's the way it's supposed to be. If the doors require a good slam, it's because the car is so tight. You're new to Lexus, you may not be used to the quality of the car yet

I just checked my 2020 RX450, the rubber is not like that, it follows the curve of the door.
Was just out and about so I had a look at mine. It follows the door contour and I can pull it back just like the original OP' so in my mind it's not an issue.
I have a 2022 RX 350 was well, but I am not seeing any problem. Sure if I tug at the weather strip I can pull it out like the OP does. But when I release it, it returns as it should and appears weather tight. As for closing the door, I am pleased that a new vehicle takes a good, firm effort to tightly close.
If re-attaching the rubber strip doesn't repair your door. I had a door close issue on my wife's 2020 that 3 of the doors you had to slam before the door would fully close.
The 2016 RX we traded in only needed a normal door pull to close the doors. When I complained the service tech said this was normal because the RX doors are heavy. I had to demonstrate to the service manager, and compare with loaners before they aligned the door latch with the hook on the body until the door closed smoothly. All doors has been closing with normal effort since.

Wouldn't it just be easier to go back to the dealer and compare your weather strip to another brand new car there. Try closing that car door. Take more pictures. This is a bad picture you posted. Can't tell if the rubber is bad or if your finger is stretching it or distorting it. Good luck with this one.
Went back to the dealer today. They checked it out and said it was completely normal.
But while you were there, did you do what post#9 suggested and see if another car like yours has the same rubber molding? I still can't tell if you are pulling the rubber with your finger, or if it stays that way without touching it.

I mentioned above that I have the same year (2022) RX with the same rubber molding and it pulls out just like his. I think we’re good on this.

He says his car door does not close correctly. Maybe it is not the molding but because of another problem. Go to the dealership and close a new car door just like yours and see if it is the same. Don't go by what the sales guy or service person tells you. Do it yourself. Witness it for yourself. Good grief !

You have to shut these doors very firmly, our 2010 was easier to shut but to me it means they’re air tight which is a good thing.
