I got my Rx in 2020 with 17 miles on the clock. Out of curiosity I checked the dipstick around 1 thousand miles. It was half full. After 6 thousand it was still half full.

Why would you knowingly drive a new car 6k miles with low oil level?

I think he means halfway between the fill range grid on the stick.

Half full is not low.

Thank you for posting this. This kinda makes me feel better that I am not the only one. PDI can get lazy sometimes.

Got my Base 2021 RX350 last August. I immediately checked the oil level which was perfectly on the full mark. The car now has about 1500 miles and the oil level is about 3/16" below the full mark. I'll keep an eye on it and want to attribute the oil usage to break in and having the rings settling in. No visible leaks of any kind. Maybe the usage is due to the thin 0W20 oil. Now my 2014 Venza has a 3.5 liter V6 which uses the same grade oil and filter which I bought used with 39,000 miles. It now has 53,000 miles. I haven't noticed any oil consumption issues but maybe that's because it's already been "broken in". I'm not at the panic stage yet.

Our 2017 RX purchased new now has 65k on the clock and has NEVER consumed a drop of oil. Changes every 7k or so.

Yea, it is consuming oil. I plan to change the oil at 1000 miles. Maybe the break in is causing the consumption.

No. It's not break in. Fill it and keep checking it.

You cannot confirm a drop of oil is not consumed. Basically not measurable.

The oil is filled to a perfect level at the factory as they use machines that gives an exact quantity.

also the measuring stick on the RX is hard to read, badly designed where oil smudges.

Did you wait 30mins for the oil to drain if you had just driven the car?

With burning oil you should see blue smoke coming out the back.
