2017 RX350 Sport+
The powertrain can be set to normal, power or eco.
I recently changed my DMC drivetrain setting from normal to power. It seems very similar to sport mode however it doesn't have to be selected with each start-up, does anyone know what the difference is??
I haven't noticed any change in mpg however you would think it burns more gas. My car runs well but the drone is quite noticeable, selecting power lessons some of the drone noise and the shifting is better, again very similar to driving in sport mode (not sport+).
Just curious, is the eco selection the same as driving in eco mode and if so, why do they even have it.
Any comments, pros or cons??
I did a search but didn't find threads answering these questions.
Page 374 and 711 in the OM shows the selections with no other information.

I wanted to have in my 2017 MY the Sport as default, but my dealer told me it cannot be done. How did you manage?

Cocal, since we have the same model year you should be able to see what I see, although it's possible that it's only an option on the sport+ model,
Select Menu, Setup, Vehicle, and the last of the 5 selections is Driver Mode Customization.
There you will see 3 functions, Powertrain, Chassis or Air conditioning system.
Select Powertrain and there are 3 choices, Normal, Power or Eco. I selected Power and it stays in Power even after the engine is stopped and started again. As I said, afterwards I can't tell the difference when driving in Drive or Sport mode.
I hope this helps.

I've used all three and have settled on "normal mode". The ECO mode tends to keep the car in a higher gear to reduce engine rpm. But this made the engine create a droning sound which I didn't like. The sport mode is fine but the downshifts were frequent. Based on how I drive I just leave it in normal and when I need faster acceleration I just step on it. The car is fast enough for me.

I've tried it and it does not work for mine. I get as far as ...vehicle, but there is no entry for Driver Mode Customization, is yours the Sport model by chance?

Yes, Sport+. My reply to you was that it could be available only on Sport+ models however I have never read that.
When you get to Vehicle how many options do you see? I see 5.
Maintenance
Vehicle Customization
Lexus Park Assist
Blind Spot Monitor Settings
and the last is Drive Mode Customization (powertrain, chassis and climate}

That explains it! I get them all except Drive Mode Customization.

After thinking about it, one of the options is chassis and you can select normal or sport, something which is probably not available in the non-sport version. I drive in normal, I don't want the harsher ride unless I'm in the country and then I can select sport+.

I'm lucky, my dealer did an update to the tranny a couple of years ago and it has been night & day, but still not as responsive as when I put it in sport mode.
I can live with it.
