Possibility of plug-in hybrid? If that is coming then I may wait, but if they reduce the power and engine then current RX is better IMO.
There was a post in the Car Chat section about Lexus patenting the following new model names (along with my speculation):
- RX350h - possible new base hybrid using the 2.5L I4 and hybrid drivetrain from the Highlander/Venza
- RX450h+ - possible plug-in hybrid using the RAV4 Prime powertrain (2.5L I4 and bigger batteries)
- RX500h - possible same 3.5L V6 hybrid drivetrain taken from the LS500h
If battery supply still remains constrained when the new model arrives in late 2022; expect the PHEV (450h+) to be in very very short supply like the RAV4 Prime.
Yep but much lower annual sales volume. I would expect bigger sellers like the RX to redesign more often. Even the refreshes on this gen have been negligible.
The NX is one model year older than the RX, so they are likely concentrating on getting the 2nd gen NX released next year as a 2022 model. The RX will then follow the year after.
I think its pretty good to delay it. At least it increases the value of this generation RX. With gas being cheap for foreseeable feature, this SUV will have lots of demand,

We are all curious about the new RX. I thought the 2021 might be new, but no. We just bought a 2021 RX450h F Sport, white on red. We flat out love the car.
I asked the dealer when the new RX would be out; they said not for another 2 years, maybe 3.
I don't believe them.
Word is, the new hybrid drivetrain could be turbo 4 cylinder and electric AWD. Our V6 based drivetrain is low-end torquey enough, smooth and probably an easy 300 mile engine.
I have not even seen a new RX rendering.
