2016 -2019 RX's still benefit from using the Lexus App Suite (Not 2.0) in your phone.
Pre ACP/AA workaround, it adds user friendly interface features to the native Lexus Navigation.
Free to use, a bit fussy to set up but allows 1) Nav searches before driving that transfer over to
the Nav screen and 2) Using your phone's vastly superior voice recognition and map data base.
Once configured and running on the Bluetooth connected phone:
Press center console "Menu" and then on screen "Lexus App Suite"
Choose "Saved Destination" to see the up to ten (10) stored destinations
Choose "Destination Search" and then press the steering wheel "talk" button to enter new destination.
Choose "Fuel Guide" to search fuel by price brand or location.

Default Navigation Problem

Our new 2021 Lexus navigation system sometimes tries to send us around Robin Hood's barn. For instance, in traveling from our son's house in Southern California to our home, some 200+ miles away, navigation was flawless after I refused to allow it to send me south to an interstate when I wanted to go north to a state highway. Had I followed the direction of the gps I would have gone miles out of my way and onto two interstates that at that time of day were virtual parking lots. When I followed surface streets to the state highway the system continued to try to turn me around until I was virtually to the state highway. I have checked my manuals assuming there was a way to tell it to select the shortest route, but to no avail. Help!

That is classic GPS navigation, in my experience, both in USA and Europe. Better to learn to read the map. 2 cents' worth.

Rogerdar and all, The Lexus Navigation route "Preferences" tab is only available when you
have an route to a Point B set up. Once you open up preferences make sure "Highways" is
enabled and if you have a Tollway transponder then also light up "Tollways". You do not have
to take the tollway if prompted but if it is off she will relentlessly tell you to exit if you take one!

Newest navigation preference menu has an odd double negative...it asked if you want to avoid
tollways? No. Former generations asked if you intended to use tollways... Yes!

FWIW, we noticed today that the RX350 (2021) map had us driving through a lake and then a forest. It was WAY off.

Giggled around with "advanced map settings" and found a Calibration tool. Now, the car seems to know where it is.

No idea how it got so badly knocked off its bearings, but we'll be keeping a closer eye on it.

Turns out that my radar detector, recently mounted and centered very low on the windshield was blocking and/or corrupting the GPS link. Once I re-positioned that to the lower left corner of the windshield, the GPS returned to its previously excellent and consistent performance. A note in the Owner's Manual does warn, I belatedly learned, that leaving any item on the dash could negatively affect GPS response.

This isn't a question or an observation as to the effectiveness of the nav system in the RX but I would like to know this......What do all of the color coded (green, red, orange) "arrows" on each side of major roads or highways represent? Is there a way to simply turn them off? It really makes the display appear cluttered and I have no idea what their purpose is. I typically keep it on the birdseye view vs the flat map but it doesn't matter which way I use the display. Thanks.

I found it - page 88 of the navigation manual. It's Lexus' attempt at providing traffic information - green all clear, yellow slow, orange real slow I guess.
I turned it off using the "map information" screen. Waze works so much better at redirecting if there's a wreck or construction. I will simply use it in conjunction with the factory nav for those out of town trips to unfamiliar locations.

The "HD" Hybrid Digital AM and FM stations provide clearer signal (especially AM),
multiple FM channels per station (up to 8 but no frequency with that many in Chicago)
and the topic of this thread, dynamic and free Traffic and Weather.
The Red/Yellow/Green corridors are showing traffic density. Not as precise as Waze
or Google to be sure but nice as a easily viewed guide. Also provided is the Weather
Channel. Either press the speech button and ask for the Weather Forecast or if you
don't wish to interrupt you tunes then use the center console Menu button and then
the on screen Info button and open Weather.

Default 2022 Navigation -- Help

Purchased a 2022 for my wife several months ago. This is our 4th RX with NAV. For many reasons we have not used the vehicle much but my wife tried to use the NAV today and she got some very strange results. It took her WAY out of her way on some of her trips. I reviewed the detailed settings and find that the level of detail in the settings available in our previous RX's does not appear to be available in the 2022. For instance, I could select if I wanted to use, or avoid toll roads in previous versions, but not in the 2022. The 2022 calculated 3 routes, but the one labeled "Quick" showed a travel time 15 minutes longer than the other two!!!

I was told by the sales person that the map database is updated over the air. I went into the NAV settings and selected UPDATE MAPS but got a message saying that this could not be done and that we should contact the dealer.

Before we contact the dealer, is there anyone else with a 2022 with NAV that could offer any insight?

I utterly in disbelief how lexus can get away with this. My car wants me to take 2 highways and 4.6 miles in order to take me to my friends house in the same development literally 0.5 miles away within clear view.

It knows you love driving the Lexus so it's merely maximizing your drive time😁 kidding aside you either have some settings that need revision or it's clearly a route that the system is not well versed in.

Our neighborhood development was built in a couple of phases. The road that was
added to connect them was not included in the map information of our 20214 ESh.
When driving through the short street it confused the system briefly. I never actually
entered a Point B as Artem123 did but imagine if we did it would act as his did.

Note: there is a setting for "Areas to Avoid". Useful when you have seasonal construction
or festival interruptions, you can set an intersection or route to avoid. Check this setting
and clear any you may have set and forgotten.

Default 2022 RX Navigation

Can you set (customize)your own route on the Lexus navigation. I have a route that I take all the time which is different than the navigation is showing. When I take off on to another route it keeps telling to exit the next off ramp.
