Default Deciding between two cars

To some it might be a no-brainer but want some input regardless.

Looking for an Atomic Silver 450H. Got two quotes from two dealers.

Dealer 1: Birch interior.
Dealer 2: Black interior. It has all options that dealer 1 has with the following extra options: touch-less rear door, paint protection film from 3m, body molding, mudguard, door edge guard, all-weather floor linger/cargo mat.

Dealer 2 is only $100 more than 1, but it has options worth more than $1000.

Value wise 2 is obviously a no-brainer, but we originally wanted Birch, and wife doesn't really like body side molding. Questions:

1. Is silver/black a good color combo? besides visually, I do have two young kids with carseats installed - is black more or less easy to get dirty?
2. How do people think of door molding? I actually just realized our current RX 350 has molding too, so it's probably not something people will actively notice, but now I see it I prefer no molding more.
3. How valuable/useful are other options dealer 2 has? Or they are more gimmicky?
4. Which deal would you go after? (assuming first dealer is not likely to reduce price)

Get what you like. nobody here can decide for you. Birch is nearly white and will not wear well no matter what anyone says. But if you like it and can put up with the constant cleaning then it's for you. Me - I only run with black interiors. Moldings - no thanks. What are the other options for $1,000?

The ones I listed above total MSRP over $1300.

Touchless rear door is a gimmick you'll rarely use. All weather floor mats you probably want especially with the youngsters. The rest prob not worth it.

I have a white 2020 with black interior. My last vehicle was a pilot with beige interior. Cars with black interior are much easier to keep looking clean. Especially with kids ...

You are going to have this car a long time, so get the interior color you want.

You did not mention the mileage of each... but to me, you spend more time inside than looking at it outside.
Mud gards are essential to me, I would add that. The rest you can live without.

Both are new cars, so I'd think mileage is essentially 0.

It's not really what options I want (I can live without any of those), but they are included in dealer 2's quote and basically free. I think the only thing I really wish weren't there is the door molding...interior, black vs birch there are pros and cons and I don't really have a super strong feeling...

The deal a few options on the #1!

I personally have black with silver lining, it came only in black. And I find it easy to clean (and show less that it is dirty) and could be reflecting less light during the day (but I think that you dash board would be brown).

Yeah the door molding looks horrible on this model. Door edge guards offer some decent protection though I think.

There is door molding and body side molding. The door molding to me is almost invisible. Not a real fan of body side molding on this model with its sharper lines than some of the older models. We just picked up a leftover 2019 with Silver Lining color with Stratus gray seats. But, all of the trim is black including the steering wheel and I think it looks great. We use the touch less rear door exclusively. If you’ve got a vehicle with keyless start, why would you pull the key out when you get in the vehicle! Kind of the same thing with a touch free rear door. Why would I waste my time trying to find my key in my pocket or my wife’s purse when all I really have to do is touch the rear emblem and the tailgate opens. Vehicle 2 is a no brainer, if you can convince the wife. If not, it really doesn’t matter, does it! 🤗

Thanks all for your replies.

I am an idiot and didn't notice the second dealer quoted me a 2019 model (even though I told him I wanted a 2020 model), so it's moot now. We are back to the first deal. :-)

You need the fob for the touch free operation as well as the standard procedure to open by either pressing the button on the fob or the button on the hatch. The touchless thing is a complete gimmick that doesnt work half the time. FUGGETABOUTIT

maybe it doesn’t work for others but it works for us. If I’m spending $50K on a vehicle I’m surely not gonna quibble about a $200 option on it. But, I did complain and refuse to pay $499 for Nitro in my tires! Now that’s a gimmick.

499 for nitrogen. That should be a felony not a gimmick.
