2020 RX - Kick Sensor - How to disable for hitch?
I think the kick sensor works great, took me a few tries initially to understand the motion for action.
Have the key on you and move your foot in a forward and backward motion right towards the middle. My speed is similar to kicking a small rock or a slow swinging motion. Love using this feature when my hands are not free.

Greetings!
So in my new 2020 RX I have the Kick Sensor, I thought it would work better than my previous Touch Sensor on my 17. It does not. You need to river dance in the parking lot to get it to open.
I would like to put my hitch back, and forget about the Kick Sensor. What are my options of disabling this? Pulling the wire? Pulling the fuse, if one exists? Any advice? Thanks!

Funny analogy.
I have the 2020 Lexus RX 450h F Sport. I ordered the kick sensor with my 450h and it worked until I installed a Curt trailer hitch for this model. Does anyone have a picture of the kick sensor, or as an alternative, where it is exactly located underneath? Asking because even though Curt claimed the kick sensor would continue work after the trailer hitch installation, it does not. Curt says instead of kicking in the center, you should now kick slightly left or right of center after the hitch is installed -- Well, that method still does not activate the kick sensor. I was thinking I could move the sensor slightly right or left of center, away from the hitch "center tube" and maybe it would work again. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or photos.
Hi,
I'm in the delivery process the 2020 RX450HL, and I need to use a hitch to carry my bikes. The dealer informed me after that the hitch can't be installed because of the kick sensor of the new RX.
Just wanted to ask if anyone has the same issue with a hitch install for the new 2020 RX, and what was the eventual work around.
Unfortunately, I need a hitch, and this becomes a deal breaker for my families needs.

There shouldn't be an issue, but you will have to learn how to kick your leg to get it to open off center since the hitch will be there. Search the forum, the threads are already there. I have both and all work well.
unfortunately, the 450HL currently has no hitch kit option from Lexus, or any outside manufacturers like Curt. Unless, someone who has a 450HL can confirm otherwise
Not being at all familiar with the kick sensor, does the door still have a push button above the license plate? If so, could that be used instead?
Previous years hybrids didn't have a specific curt hitch per-say either - you had to modify the underneath bumper cover to fit it. If you can take a picture of your underneath bumper area. We can be more of help.
UPDATE:
I've learned to operate the kick sensor
And most importantly I was able to install a Curtis hitch without any issue, and the kick sensor still operates.
PS If you have an F-Sport, keep in mind that when installing any hitch, you will need to remove the lateral performance damper, which is a lightweight rod with gas damper. I'm pretty sure it's mostly used for vibration absorption; a hitch will give you much better rigidity needed to limit body flex.

We picked up a 2020 RX 350 F Sport (demo) and they mentioned that they had put a tow hitch on this thing... but when I looked there, it was a rod with a gas sticker.... [insert confused look].
didn’t know that’s where the damper is.....
Other concern was whether tow hitch and kick sensor works....
question: which model hitch did you get? (And how does it look?)
I think you just answered my two questions in one!

QUESTION: Where exactly do you kick after installing the Curt hitch?
Has anyone gotten a hitch on their 2020 RX with the kick sensor? I'm looking to get a hitch installed and I'm wondering if I can go with the dealer or if I'll have to find a custom job.
