Rarely parked on an incline so whats the point? I suspect the set and release every time you park will cause unneeded wear.
For us old timers that drove stick shift cars (no Park) for many years, we were taught to never leave the vehicle without setting the parking brake. Old habits stick with us. Still not a bad idea when on an incline because it reduces the pressure on the parking cog, and makes it easier to shift out of park.

I had a stick as well back in the day and always set the parking brake. Those days are over Good point on the parking pawl pressure but as I said, I'm rarely parked on an incline that would create that scenario.

I had an auto release on a '68 caddy, always put the P brake on and as soon as I shifted into D it released it, never had any problems with wear or operation, it was mechanical.
On my RX350 I have it on auto on-off and after 3 yrs no problems at all even though it's electronic.

Yep - precaution on my part. It's something that is likely to become a problem at some point so why bother when there's really no need to set it every time I park. Do the math - on average, I probably park 2,000 times per year. Five years and 10,000 sets of that brake??
I have always set the parking/emergency break on every car I have owned, manual or automatic. It is just the safe thing to do. Moreover, not using it can wear your parking pawl, which will be a more expensive repair: https://blog.firestonecompleteautoca...parking-brake/
I just installed a remote starter in my '17 and DRL do come on as do other lights excluding the main headlights.
You're from Canada, so you must have installed a third party like mine. And I have my DRL on too, plus a little light show when starting. But this thread is more towards those who use Enform to remote start, which we don't have for the 2016-2019 models over here.

I'd much rather have and installed one than enform.
