On two occasions while I was hand washing my 2018 RX-450h, the mirrors retracted after I bumped one of them. The first time it happened I thought some sort of timer went off which retracted the mirrors when the car was unlocked and the key fob was in my pocket. However, the second time I definitely bumped the mirror when I was washing around it. If this is a feature, it’s pretty cool and another one of those "Lexus-thought-of-everything" sort of things. But then again, maybe it’s something else??? Has anyone else seen this?

 

Water on any of the door handles with the key nearby can cause the car to lock, and close the mirrors if you have it set that way. Only way I've found is to leave the key in the garage out of range when I wash the car.

 

Leave your mirrors manually flipped open when washing the car, so when the doors are going to lock/unlock when water touch the handle, they won't retract.

Also when the doors are unlocked and nobody open the doors after a certain amount of time, the doors will lock automatically.

 

I had the dealership change it to work when turning the car on and off.

 

i like them on lock unlock, quick glance i know its locked.

 

Thankfully my OCD doesn't let me leave the car without locking it 3 times LOL
