+1 on both points. People still buy RXs even more then any other higher functioning vehicles like X5s, Q7s, and MDXs. Partly due to the mechanical stability of the product that is the RX, and partly due to the "apologists" of Lexus who feel Lexus can do no wrong.
Anyways all is not lost, guy in the vid says something is arouind the corner for sure, and worst comes to worst, you can retro Carp;ay and AA from a third party forum memeber here
I just got a 2019 hybrid glad there's no refresh. Car will still look updated for another year
Of all the auto news outlets, CNBC got the scoop on 2020 RX.
The 2020 RX won’t deliver anything quite so dramatic, but it is, nonetheless, more than the generally insignificant midcycle “refresh” that might once have been expected. If anything, Lexus has tried to touch just about everything it could without making a complete tear-up of the fourth-generation model.
That starts with exterior changes, including new front and rear fascia, revised headlights and taillamps, and new wells.
The 2020 RX also adds plenty of the high-tech features that younger buyers crave. It includes Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and an updated infotainment system that can be upgraded with a user interface more like Amazon’s Alexa, recognizing common speech rather than requiring users to learn stilted commands.
This is ridiculous on the part of Lexus. RX definitely needs its multimedia system updated to match the new ES and LS. I doubt they will do an over the air update for pre-2020 models as I think Apple CarPlay and Android Auto require GEN 10 navigation system and RX is still at GEN 9. Very disappointing.
God had reached down and given us a miracle.
Not much, but it's something.
Out Q3 2019. The details on the touchscreen are not really there yet. The touchpad lovers, your wish has been heard.

A new front and rear fascia and new standard 18-inch wheels are the highlights of the 2020 RX's new look. The grille and headlights have been smoothed out a bit, making the front end a bit less aggressive and more elegant in the process. Underneath, the RX gets new front and rear stabilizer bars, new suspension bushings, upgraded dampers, and tweaked tuning for the shock absorbers.
Tech and safety updates include standard Android Auto compatibility — a first on any Lexus — as well as what Lexus calls "Safety System+ 2.0," which packages together features such as daytime bicyclist detection, low-light pedestrian detection, lane keeping assist and adaptive cruise control.
The sporty version of the RX, known as the F Sport, has also been updated with a newly available F Sport package, which includes a cold-air intake, active sound control
Saw this video last night on their channel, surprised Lexus already had new updated car to show. Personally, i will miss my huge shelf in front of the infotainment screen on the dash. I guess they had to move the screen waaay closer since you get to finger it now.
If you got the 2016-2019 with a panoramic roof and triple beam headlamps , congratulations you have been future proofed for the 2020 RX. BS how USA dealerships skimp out on the triple beam headlamps and overcharge , whereas in other countries that thing is damn near standard.
If the RX is having a mid-cycle refresh for the 2020 model year, that is likely an indication that Lexus will be extending Generation 4 cycle beyond 6 years and to a longer cycle. A 2020 refresh likely means at least 2 more years, and possibly 3 more years for the Generation 4 RX. While models like the RX and ES have typically run 6 years between generations, other models, like the GX, LS, and LX have run longer times between generations. So, there could well be a change for the RX to longer times between generations.
I believe it is very likely that Lexus will substantially reduce the price for the Hybrid model. They did that for 2020 NX. I am guessing "Hybrid" will become just an option for Premium/Luxury packages with the price of about 2000-2500USD and all other features will be aligned, as they did for NX. If that is going to happen, then they will start selling many more hybrid models.
