Default Nav not working after move to Korea

Hello fellow RX lovers, new to this forum.
I had a question about my navigational system.
I purchased my car in California (I believe it was made in Canada, the VIN starts with '2').
And I recently moved to Korea and brought the car here.

Now the problem is that the navigation will not work (obviously) and the local dealers tells me it is not possible to fix this.
I did do some research but came up short on most cases.

I know that I may have missed some details so I wanted to confirm my research before giving up.
Could someone provide any information on how to update the Map to another country, or if that is possible at all?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I don't know much about it, but does your dealer sell new RXs with nav installed? If so, the only difference would probably be software and I can't see why you couldn't load new s/w in your car.

So, are you saying that the Navigation works but you do not have the correct maps? I doubt ( could be wrong ) that worldwide maps are installed. Getting the correct map software would probably help.

No, only the GPS seems to be working. I was wondering if the maps would work if the correct map was loaded, but from my research, it seems that is not the case. I believe the TOMTOM software is loaded into the NAVI right now (or whatever comes standard for California region). I am beginning to read into some Korean forums, and it seems that a different software will need to be installed via third party (because the dealers won't do this or provide any information about it).

The only problem is that my Korean is not good enough to figure out a safe way to install a third party map. Will continue to research though.

Thank you!

yeh the dealer won't give me any details. after badgering one of the workers yesterday, he gave a long sigh and told me to search on Korean forums for a new software install via third party companies. trying to look into one now. thanks!

Find another similar year rx and try swapping the sd card with the maps loaded. If it works try to find it on ebay.

That won't work. Once the SD card is inserted into a vehicle, it becomes "married" to that particular VIN. To the OP, good luck. Cars are built differently for different regions. For instance, outside of the US does not get the Enform App Suite. That will probably affect you being able to update your software for Korea.
