Default Security in new RX350s

Hi I was looking around to try to make my vehicle safer for peace of mind. I just got a 2018 but had a 2010 RX before. Unfortunately, the 2010 was robbed twice when I was in a worse part of the neighborhood and parked on the street. The OEM alarm did not account for robbers breaking windows and crawling through in and out. I got a viper alarm on that car and they never even tried again. Anyway, I am searching to see what works with the new enform. I found (way too late) that lexus had a 2010-2015 glass break sensor to work with the OEM alarm. I do not see that for any model after that. Do any of yall know if that is a feature on the new vehicles or will I still be in trouble? I got a house over the years close by and have a garage now, but I guess my fear of a break in when I park downtown or something still is pushing me to get an alarm.

The dang window cost right at 300 with my insurance deductible at 250. Items stolen, way less than the cost of the window. So I am looking for a sort of deterrence.

don't leave anything of value in your vehicle and it won't get broken into. The cabin should be showroom clean. They aren't going to waste their time/risk of breaking into a car that they don't see anything of value worth taking... they'll just move down to the next car as that is easier.

Don't waste your money on an alarm, just do the above and you'll be fine

100% agree. Unfortunately the two times my car was broken into, there was nothing of value either. I think it was because it was a secluded parking area and they knew it was an overnight spot. I had some nice sunglasses in the compartment that they didn't even touch. All they did was open my glove boxes and dump everything on the floor. It also did not help that it was raining outside, so the rain and mud tracked in all over the car was the second worst part to replacing the expensive privacy back window! It sucks but I thought after the first time it would have been over after they recovered nothing lol. Anyway, the thought of a stranger rampaging around my nice RX scares the heck out of me :P But yeah, times have changed and I am in a better spot than before. I'll see how it rolls without the alarm for now, less keys more fun.

May just get a fake alarm light or something.

I have the RX 350 F Sport - it comes with the ultrasonic alarm which senses movement inside the vehicle. It works, went off one night at 2.00 am in the garage, bloody fly in the car which must have set it off.

How do I know if my car has an ultrasonic alarm already? it doesn't list it in the specs, 2018 rx350 pretty much maxed out on tech.

Do you have the button circled in the overhead console? By pressing this it turns off the ultrasonic sensor so things which may move inside the car won't set the alarm off.

What year is your RX? I have 17 F-Sport, but don't recall seeing that button or ever hearing about that feature.

That would explain why I don't have that. I guess in Australia snakes and other creatures are everywhere, so having that sensor makes sense to warn people before they get in.

Looks like this is also offered in UK and Australia under Anti-Theft with Intrusion Sensor:
Anti-theft system: Alarm, intrusion sensor, tilt sensor, glass breakage sensor and engine immobiliser

Can this be purchased in the US and added to an existing RX? I do not want to add another separate alarm system and carry an extra fob/

Sorry critten looks like I may had led you astray - as others have said I'm in Australia and that sensor alarm is standard across the range here, very surprised it's not available in the US at all.

Haha....very sensitive alarm, that's why you can turn off that particular sensor if you say leave the sunroof tilted open for ventilation, leaves that may fall in would set it off otherwise and as I found flies will also set it off. Seen people too with beads or whatever dangling from the interior mirror, they will set off the alarm if they move around.

That is super interesting! but no worries. I guess I'll just wing it. I really dont have much faith in anyone or bestbuy to not mess up the large amount of tech in this car. Just explaining to the best buy guy how my doors open automatically when i pull the handle made him look baffled....not a great sign cancelled and left the appt lol.
