Ford/Lincoln - Alexa already?!!!

Ford/Lincoln - Alexa already?!!!
I don't get it. I know Carplay and Alexa are coming to NEW Lexus/Toyota vehicles but . . . My best friend has a 2017 Lincoln MKC. When he got it in the summer of 2016, they told him he would be getting an over-the-air update to Apple Carplay. Then just like that he walked out to his car one day and there it was! Now, he just told me he has Alexa. Even while they are rolling out revamped 2019 models. I don't get it. I love my 2017 Lexus RX350 and 2017 Lexus CT200h but WHY WHY WHY are we not able to get updates like that? It seems so simple. Maybe I'm missing something??? Sorry to say - regretting my purchases - I never realized how much of a pain it is to use the built-in navigation, messaging, etc - always find myself hooking up my phone and using Waze, etc. Have also heard that Apple Carplay updates will include access to 3rd party navigation apps! Argghhh! Thoughts? Updates? Trying to be positive and enjoy all the features, but realizing just how much I feel behind in Tech with Lexus.
