Default Hacks for the slow hatch?

The RX’s hatch is so slow! It has to be one of the slowest of any make/brand. I can hit the close button, get in, buckle up, start the car, and the hatch is still closing. Are there any modifications that can be made to speed up opening and closing speed?

I like it to be at this speed. More secure that way.

I was changing my tires (winter to summer) in my garage. A couple of times the door opening got activated from my fob in my pocket. I had time to stop it before it hit the garage door.
Also sometime when the trunk is pretty filled, it gives me time to check if all is in place so that the hatch does not squeeze anything. I have time to stop it before it does. (Do not do at home) And I even sometime pass my hand to place something before the hatch completely closes.

There is a undocumented way to make the hatch close super quickly. Reach up, grab the hatch door with your hand and pull downward. Cool, eh?

Seriously, all the hatch doors on vehicles made by Toyota close at about the same speed. Most/all let you start driving away while the hatch door finishes closing.

Maybe I could arrange a hatch door closing race in our cul-de-sac ... RX vs Sienna vs BMW vs Buick vs Lincoln vs Ford Explorer, etc., etc. No, the neighbors would think I'm even crazier than they already think I am.

By closing slowly there is less likelihood of damage if something prevented it from fully closing. I don't think I ever put it in gear while it was closing, but if so, no big deal. If you push the close button twice, you don't have to wait for it to close and you can hear the car lock as you walk away.

LOL I think that sounds like a fun idea. Make it a block party.

Does anyone feel like the rear power tailgate function operates a tad bit slow? Is this an issue with the rx? Noticed that at the dealership yesterday when I was checking out an rx

I think that they sped it up in 2020 models. One of the complaints was that it took forever to open. Mine works fine....not too fast or too slow.

I've never timed it, but I open the back when I'm about 20 yards from the vehicle and by the time I get there it's fully opened, if it were slower I'd press the button at 25 yards.
What are they complaining about? How slow is too slow and how fast is too fast and how long is a piece of string?
