Well, I read a bunch about this issue but didn't think it would happen to a new'ish car like mine. Long story short, my 2020 RX has been making some weird sloshing sounds from behind the glove compartment. Its been raining heavily here in the north east and I figured that this could have been the factor for it. I took it out for several more drives since we've had some dry weather and to no remedy, the sound was still there. I did a bit more googling and came up with other reasons including low or air in coolant, trapped water in sunroof drain and a few other minor factors. So I checked the radiator and it was topped up, the drainage area Since I'm still under warranty, I figured that I would have Lexus take a look at it.
Service called me in after 45m, took me to my car only to see my entire passenger side carpet peeled back. Apparently my AC drain clogged up and the water had overflowed into my cabin, soaking to passenger side carpets to no repair. I need to have my entire carpet and the liner underneath replaced via insurance because otherwise, I'm being quoted nearly close to $7k. The technician told me that this does happen to "some" vehicles and that the AC drain clogging issues continues to be an area that Lexus hasn't really addressed. He also mentioned something about spiders being attracted into the drain where they tend to spin webs so they will usually place a net on the drain exit to keep anything from going up. I guess that this is probably counter-intuitive if you get any objects coming out of the drain that can't get past the net and winds up clogging it up anyway.
To sum things up, a few days and the deductible out of my pocket should fix it back up but its probably wise to use a pipe cleaner/sunroof drain cleaning brush every spring just for piece of mind. What a headache.
Replacement carpet is $1,000 silencer pad $600 they want $5,400 in labour? Damn. Here's why the drain clogs, the tube is long with a sharp bend this is an extremely stupid design.

It's absolutely ridiculous, I just went through this issue myself. Lexus (and Toyota as well) have published many TSBs over the years regarding this issue. A bunch of vehicles in their lineup are affected, not just the RX.
They could've prevented this issue by installing the so called barrier device (arinix tip) at the end of the AC drain during vehicle production. But they choose not to do this. It's ridiculous.
I had this problem in my RAV4 several years ago. I just removed the front seat, the carpet and insulation pads. Luckily it was a warm, sunny day, so I put everything in the sun all day and it dried perfectly. Put it back and has been perfect ever since. Cost? Two or three beers and a sandwich from my wife!

These 2 TSB's are not showing the 4th gen. RX's as being affected by the clogging issue. With that said I was wondering if anybody here has had the Arinix Tip installed on their evaporator drain hose? It would seem to be an easy DIY project. I looked but did not see them for sale anywhere.
I can’t believe this isn’t added during production but even worse, $30 for that stupidity d let the king thing. I reckon that a small piece of net used on porch screen doors and a hose clamp would work just as well.
The last 6 days it rained like crazy in NJ area, yesterday the sun came out finally & I discovered a totally soaked seat belt on the driver's side . Checked the floor it was dry , what causes that ?..

Odd, never heard of this one. Do you have a sunroof? When not using the belt, it's rolled up inside the doorjamb, so you could have a leak in there.
I called Allstate to file a claim. I sent the pics and they sent me a text and email saying "based on information provided, your vehicle doesn't appear repairable. Please remove personal items from your vehicle, tell the shop/tow yard you authorize Allstate to get your vehicle, and leave the keys with them. After the damage is reviewed, you'll receive an email regarding next steps. If you have a loan, please gather all account information. If no loan, please locate the title." This crazy. What is going on here? I just wanted them to fix it, not total the car. It's still drivable. There is only 19k miles on the dash. They want Copart to come for the vehicle. I'm so confused right now.
Sunroof Drain clogged or a/c drain hose clogged. But how can the Allstate adjuster make a totaled claim by pics alone?
They want to optimize and go by best guess sometimes since it costs money to send someone out to do a rough estimate, then send it to a repair shop to get a inspection, so if they suspect it's going to be totalled they just skip to the next step.
You should call and talk to a human which will clear things up. You can also talk to whoever they told you to drop the car off and clarify what you want to do and what the steps look like. Don't say that line that you release the car to allstate until you understand what that means.
Better use of your time than shooting the breeze on forums who have no power to help you.
I've talked to the adjuster assigned to my claim and he says it is deemed unsafe to drive due to the possibility of accidental airbag deployment due wires and such being under the carpet where the water is. Smh.
