I have a 2016 RX 350 and am very dissatisfied with the navigation system.
The following are a few of the issues:
-the system freezes up while in use
-many smaller roads are not in the mapping system
-approximately 50% of speed limits do not show
-it has instructed me to turn left where there is no road
-it will take you off a main road and then put you back on it for no reason
-several roads are referred to as , for example , 95 South but the road is 95 North and vice versa.
On a recent 2500 km trip system completely got lost twice.
I do not feel safe with the system and now use either my portable Garmin or iPhone.
Are others experiencing similar problems?
My 2017 RX450h NAv system has operated about like the rest of the Lexus systems and gets me where I want to go 95% of the time. Never had it freeze, so if yours does, get it back to the dealer.

Every nav I've had has some issues. The Lexus is one of the best I've seen. My Hyundai is a close second. Honda was the worst ive ever seen. Computer programm8ing will never be perfect.
A few times when just starting the map, the voice says make a turn opposite the direction shown on the map. The map was correct. Seen this on 2017 Lexus RX and 2017 Toyota.
on the 2016 RX450, never had it freeze. But it won't tind some addresses and won't give you the best route. It also wants us to take exit but then puts you back on the same road.
We supplement it with Google maps
The data bases used in navigation systems generally do have errors in them, and there isn't much you can do about that, but the freezing issue may be resolved if you re-boot the system.
I'm not 100% sure how that is done on the RX, but, for other Lexus models, if you press and hold the down volume button on the steering wheel for 8-10 seconds, the entire navigation system will re-boot.
For the most part it has always worked for me. Only once did it want to send me on a route that was much longer than I wanted. I sort of new where I was going so headed down another highway and it did the recalculation and sent me the direction I wanted. It's like it didn't know a highway was there? Maybe I didn't pay attention when it gives you options...
It has never frozen and sometimes does not give me the speed limit.
It still does not know, or possibly me, voice commands. If I use the "keyboard" it always works.

For those who have difficulty with entering destinations via voice commands, there are a couple of suggestions.
The 2016 and 2017 RX has a Generation 9 navigation system, and the Generation 9 navigation system has a learning mode that you can use to train it to recognize your voice. The learning mode can be accessed in the navigation system settings. Doing the training only takes a couple of minutes, and it does noticeably improve the system's ability to recognize your voice commands.
Also, I'd suggest trying to use the Destination Search app in the (free) Enform App Suite. It seems to have better ability to understand voice commands than does the voice command feature that is built into the system. Another advantage of using the Destination Search app is that its data base is continuously updated. Thus, the information in its data base is more current and likely more accurate than the information in the data base from the SD card that is in the vehicle.

Thanks for the info...done the "learn" thing a couple of times, still no success. I rarely use the voice commands and have followed the Owners manual, really, it just gets me more frustrated and in the big picture I don't really care. Putting an address in once every few months is no big deal.

No way I would attempt via voice commands. I have never laughed so hard in my life at the erroneous responses I get when using the voice command thing! Lexus needs to forget the voice thing as it has always worked very poorly on all of my vehicles.
17 RX here. Never had it freeze. And it served its purpose in my recent 1,000-mile road trip. It even re-routed me to avoid the traffic jam (while I was driving on the side road, I could see the cars sitting on the highway).

It's horrible. You'll have an aneurysm by the time 'she' gets it right, especially with destinations. I either preprogram destinations before I go or use I my phone. I've embarrassed myself numerous times with passengers in the car. Thanks Lexus!
One very nice thing about the voice system is that it parses the destination address for you, unlike some other cars where you need to give them step by step, state, city, house #, street, etc. Now only if did it right from the first 5 tries, it would be great.

You find joysticking around with that mouse is a much more pleasurable experience than voice commands? I think they are both quite tedious if you need to do it in a hurry. =]

I'd rather have a root canal than use the joystick for a long address. The voice command seems to work fine for me.
