Has anybody have any idea about these AVS in-channel visors for 4RX? I'm wondering if this is just a labeling error or maybe new item. Tried to chat to verify fitment but nobody is attending their chat line.

I read thru all the posts to see if anyone would explain why the need to install these things. Didn't see anything. I can remember from a previous thread smokers like to crack the window open in the rain so the cigarette smoke escapes. So whenever I see a car with these, which is very rare, all I can think is there goes the last of the smokers. Any other good reasons to tack these on a 50k+ vehicle?

 

In Vancouver, BC where I live we get a lot of rain all the time. The main purpose of the wind deflector is so that we can open the windows while driving in the rain and let in fresh air without using the AC system. They also cover the open windows that you leave open in the Summer months for venting. Those were the reasons why I always get them.

 

Absolutely! I drive my wife to go shopping and all I do is wait in the car. And yes, if it is raining you definitely need visors to keep fresh air in without getting wet or the door panels. This is especially thru with colder place like the NorthWest. Just because it's a $50K+ car doesn't mean it cannot use a $1 add on to make it more functional like rubber mats, mud flaps, brighter LED lights, etc. It's all about personalization. Nothing more. Nothing less.

 

Why?

A) Open windows while car is off to get some fresh air B) Opening windows when the car is covered in snow without having all the crap fall into the car C) In-line deflectors actually look good D) This is an RX not a Bentayga E) It makes your car a little different from the 100 other on your block, rofl F) It's inexpensive unless you go JDM route which requires at least one well functioning kidney.

 

This pretty much is the number one reason. We need to fend for our survival with a window open. You only hear the warnings of 'don't leave your pets and children in the car'. No one ever said don't leave your husband in the car. No one cares. Cruel world.

PS Yes, I know we volunteer to sit in the car, staring at a parking lot > being dragged through stores. =]

 

Going back to my original question. I decided just to stick with the Weathertechs. For some reasons, the pics and description of the AVS doesn't match the 4RX measurements. Such inaccurate ad description should already raise alarm about its quality and correct fitment. Thank you all.

 

Has anyone tried the Weathertech in-channel visors on their RX?

The dealer offers them, and I see them specified on the Weathertech site, but they also said they had some for my last car, a Highlander, and those didn’t work... The TSS wouldn’t allow the extra tolerance of the visors, and the window would just keep opening.

I miss the the good old days when you could smash a finger... but seriously, anyone having luck with in-channels?

Thank you both for the comments and the links. I have a black RX and I actually LIKE the look of the visors on a black car... even w/o the functionality, but I've always had WT in-channels for the functionality. I'm glad I'll be able to enjoy them again.

Anyone wanna' buy a brand-new set for a Highlander? (joking, but seriously... sitting on a shelf in the garage).

EDIT: After everyone's advice here. I went ahead and ordered the dark smoke Weathertechs through the dealer. I hope others have had a wonderful experience with their dealer, because for me, it's been a significant factor in even buying an RX over my other options... and has continued to be a good experience after the sale. I've added several options through the dealer parts dept.
