I let the wife take my ("our") 2017 F-Sport 350 to work this morning. She was behind another vehicle at a stop sign today. Driver ahead of her moved forward a bit >> she looks down at something thinking he's moving into the intersection and gives his bumper a tap. No damage to the 350, but the F-Sport grill left some nice marks in his bumper.
My question here is why didn't the PCS system kick in and stop the 350? Pulling into our garage its worked flawlessly (had a bike in way). Was hoping someone could shed some light on this, obviously checking to make sure the system is functioning, active, etc.
PCS works based on closing speed, so maybe it didn't seem the RX was closing in fast enough to the stopped car, and like already mentioned, her foot might've been still on the brake. I'm kinda surprised ICS didn't kick in though.
PCS doesn't work below a certain speed (and closing speed as dchar mentions). Not sure exactly but it's in your owner's manual. At those speeds, ICS should take over. Was ICS and Park Assist turned on?
The parking assist will beep if your foot is on the brake. I use it, and the camera to park in the garage.
Make sure your parking settings are on and adjust the settings for your liking. I know the 2017's are different from the 2016's as far as actually stopping the car, but it should have at least beeped.
