Rear Tailgate Manual Operation
I have both a 3rd Gen and 4th Gen RX. Its fairly easy to manually close(by hand) on the older RX. However, on the new 4th Gen, I find it extremely difficult, to close by hand compared to the 3rd Gen. So main question: Is the 4th Gen RX rear tailgate only meant to be closed automatically?
Obviously its convenient to have auto open/close, but sometimes I just want to quickly close it by hand, similar to my older RX. Is there a "mode" that you can set to allow for easier closing of the rear tailgate by hand? Or perhaps I should hit the gym a little more.....
Does anybody else find it difficult to manually close the rear tailgate door?

Yeah. Definitely don't think the tailgate is meant to be manually closed. Maybe in the event of a malfunction, but not on a regular basis. You do know of the double tap for locking while closing the trunk, right?
I am new. Please explain this double tap and explain what it does.
Reviving an old thread...
I recently bought a 2019 RX450h (2G RX400h previously) and was hauling home a worktable that I bought at HD. With my 400h, it was easy to close the hatch manually/slowly to do a quick "test fit" before closing the hatch the entire way - thus not risk breaking the rear window if the item was too big. Easy.
But with the 450h, I could not do a similar test as the door felt quite stiff when I tried to pull it down manually. Did I just not use enough force to close the door manually? Luckily the rear window is inset quite a bit from the tailgate's inner panels, though I held my hand close to the door bottom as it closed in case I thought there was any chance of breaking the glass...which would have sucked big time for only owning it for a week.
