Default How cheap can you be

Picked up a set of body side moldings today for our new RX350. After getting home and while opening the box I noticed a label on the box that stated "For installation instructions go to a Toyota dealer and have them make a copy of the instructions" Really!!!! Lexus can't put a piece of paper in the box with the install instructions? Unbelievable.

I found the instructions online but that still doesn't change my sentiments.

Ebay - sorry, but it’s been a few years since I purchased these & I don’t remember the vendor’s name.

They do the same thing with the factory mud guards - I had to have the dealer install. By the same token, I ordered factory matching painted mud guards from Chevrolet for the Camaro SS & they came with excellent instructions & I did them myself.

Installation is pretty easy, it comes with double sided tape. Took 20 mins to measure and place masking tape on the car as a guide. Then just peel and stick.

I have them, they were ordered with the vehicle new, and installed before it got to the dealer.
$209 on the build sheet.

I also used some masking (blue painter's tape) to make straight and accurate lines. Warmer weather during installation will help improve adhesion.

Does anyone have evidence that the side moldings actually work? I mean are they located at a height that prevents other car doors from hitting your sheet metal? Or will they prevent maybe one in ten doors from hitting the metal? I like them as a styling trim piece but I'm not convinced that they actually do anything.

I’m not sure how one would provide “evidence” of something that hasn’t happened, but I can tell you, THEY WORK! They will not prevent dings from dumbasses in big trucks, but normal parking will be much better. My old Acura had big, thick moldings, but they were way too low & didn’t stop anything. Unfortunately, that poor car had the crap beat out of it in parking lots & because of the rounds in the upper body, the metal was creased where it was unfixable without expensive paint & bodywork. My advice: put the moldings on & stop wondering “what if”!
