On the ES, pop-up alerts clear themselves after a few seconds. Alternatively, they can be cleared immediately with a press of the "home" button on the right side of the steering wheel. I'm guessing that it is similar on the RX.

My first winter I was always startled, because I was looking all around if there was something I did not see as an imminent danger.

Now when I hear the sound, my first reflex is to look at the dash to see if it is not something else than that warning.

But I remember that for all my business trips I did, all the rentals I got, american and others alike, had that anoying warning too.

In your case you will never see it unless you travel up north!

I believe that the only trigger is temperature. The alert appears when the outside temperature is around 38 degrees or cooler.

It is a one time thing, right? It is not like it will pop up every minute.

DO ski at Grandfather Mountain but not in the last few years. Might be spending Christmas there this year.

Nice!

Beware of driving on snow with summer tires though!

I believe that it might come up if there was a drop in temperature. Otherwise, my recollection is that it will pop-up again only after a re-start of the vehicle.

I don't consider the pop-up alerts to be nearly as annoying as some others apparently do. Instead, I consider them to a reminder of conditions about which I should be aware. I remember a time years ago when I left my home, which is up on a ridge, when temperature was around 40 degrees, and there was a slight drizzle. There was not a hint of slick pavement near my home. A couple of minutes later, I was down in the valley where the temperatures where somewhat cooler and where there was black ice, and I ended up in the ditch. Had I had an "icy roads" warning, I'd like to think that I might have altered my driving and been able to keep the vehicle on the road.

Another alert pops up when the lane departure alert detects that you are crossing over into adjacent lanes multiple times. When I'm driving on curvy, narrow 2-lane country roads, I'll occasionally get that alert. Again, I consider it to be a useful reminder that I should be paying more attention to my driving.

Only once unless the tempareture keeps going up and down...

When I start from outside, it can show up a minute or less after starting.

When coming out from my garage, it will show up when the sensor reaches the trigger point.

And yes it uses only the temperature as criteria.

One time per engine start I think. Many cars have been doing this for ten or more years. Nothing new here.

Once per engine start. If 37F of below, it will turn on after you start the car. If it is greater than 37F out, it will turn on once you hit 37F. It will also show on the HUD if you have one.

It was -2C (28F) last night I was looking to disable it and did not. I found the menu about the popup warnings, but this one was not part of the list.

Default How to turn off "Road Maybe Icy" Notification

This is getting to be really annoying. When the temp reaches 37f or below, the notification come up along with the chime. The notification doesn't really bother me, but the chime does. How do I turn this off.
There's no logic whatsoever other than the temperature being 37f or below. It could be bright and sunny and dry and everytime you get in the car, the message and the chime comes on. If they actually tie this to what's the outside weather is doing, ie.rain/sleet/ice/snow, then it's a valid and useful warning.

Yes, pretty useless. What I find most annoying is that it takes a few minutes after taking the car out of the garage before the temperature registers the 37F and it beeps This usually happens in a busy intersection from my house that makes me look around to figure out what if there is a safety issue rather than a temperature issue.
